Review: *exclusive* X2-Patrick Stewart

Given the green light, I am going to post this in here.

Boys and Girls, children of all ages, yes the Xmen are back and are they ready for action, this time a threat greater than Magneto is opposed against them, and its has the complete backing of the President of the United States.

Through an assassination attempt onto the president, the president unwittingly unleashes the full weight of the White House to attack Professor Xavier (once again played by Patrick Stewart in a role he was born to play) and his merry band of mutants, led by William Stryker (Brian Cox), a mysterious military leader with a score to settle with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and the adamantium he supposedly put into Wolvies body.

Yes there are many new mutants in this movie, and interesting subplots, Wolvie trying to find out about his past, and a romance story line with Rogue and Iceman( Anna Pacquin and Shawn Ashmore), and the attack onto the XMansion which leads to the eventual destruction of the Danger Room, Professor X's private sanctum to locate mutants.

Nightcrawler, Pyro, Shadowcat (whom we saw briefly in first film), Jubilee, Siryn, and Collusus makes up the roster of the new mutants in this film.

The Xmen and the evil mutants led by Magneto (Sir Ian McKellen) and Mystique (Rebecca Romjin Stamos) team up to face down the threat of William Stryker in perhaps the best sequel to hit the big screen since Lethal Weapon 2 outdid its predecessor.

X2 is a flamboyantly good movie, and should entertain all.

Film opens on May 2, 2003 and has yet to be rated.

My rating: a 9.5 out of 10.

for a year thats only released a handful of decent films this year, you seem to have been rather sporadic with the 9/9.5/10's...

the original xmen was average at best (altho "pretty crap" is a better description), so for this to get a 9.5 to me is fairly ludicrous, unless everything is 100% different to the original, except the casting of wolverine.

Hmm... I didn't like LW2 much as it goes. I probably would have used Terminator and Terminator 2 as examples.

Anyway.. I'm just being picky now. I thought the first Xmen film was quite good popcorn fare. A bit of a no brainer for a couple of hours. I dont have any higher expectations but from what i've seen i actually like.

Anyway.... Glad to hear its better than the original MG. Anticipation is actually growing!

I dunno pHo, I thought X-Men was one of the better Comic Book movies. I mean, honestly....it was better than Spider-Man anyway. There were a few things that I didn't like, namely the HORRIBLE special effect of the "white-light" but otherwise, I really enjoyed it. Whenever Brian Singer out-does Sam Raimi, I gotta give credit where credit is due.

I'm looking forward to this movie, even if it doesn't have Sentinels in it.

yeah, I was rather disappointed with the first movie too. I had been really looking forward to it, but then the special effects weren't quite all there and the plot sort of jumped around helter-skelter. one of the big problems was that the character introduction (a) was too rushed, and (b) at the same time, took up too large a fraction of the movie. It would have been better had it been about a half hour longer. I was hoping the second movie would be able to avoid this problem by not introducing new characters, but oh well ...

in any case, I was going to see the sequel no matter what because Anna Paquin is a dead ringer for an old girlfriend of mine although that certainly didn't help "25th Hour" ...

yes!!! I knew from the previews it would be good!!

i can't wait!

daredevil was also pretty good!

Yeah. I was going to watch this movie regardless of good reviews just becuase I really enjoyed the comic and the tv show. Thanks for the review looks promising.

It looked good, and your review made it look even better! I really look forward to it. My only concern is that I'm wondering if it will play at the Uptown. In DC, the Uptown is a huge theatre, but only plays one movie at a time. This is the theatre where die hard Star Wars fans camped outside for over a month to get tickets. The theatre has a balcony, and if you've seen Star wars there, well, Darth Vader's face looks as big as his whole body in your average theatre. The Uptown will either be playing Matrix Reloaded or X2, but since there 2 weeks apart, only one of the two will be playing there. They always sign agreements with the film companies to play a movie there for at least 3 weeks. Right now I'd say I want to see Matrix Reloaded more, but I dunno.

I thought the Danger Room wasnt in this movie..do you mean Cerebro? Thats where Professor X locates mutants. The Danger Room is where the mutants train.

Nonetheless..besides Return of The King this is the one movie I have been waiting for..I hope Gambit pops up in a cameo!
