Review:(2003) DysFunKtional Family w/Eddie Griffin

Concert films rarely play well, but Eddie Griffin is no ordinary comedian, as his films have yet to showcase his real talent, but after watching this film, I'd have to say DysFunKtional Family is one of the best I have seen so far this year and I don't care who thinks otherwise.

He uses the 'N' word, nigger a lot in this film, and after counting all the times he uses the word. The word is spoken 382 times, which sets a record i guess for the most times the word nigger is used, but Griffin uses it effectively in his jokes. Joking to everything from Sadaam Husein to Osama Bin LaDin to his momma who he seems to have most pleasure in telling his jokes, as well as the most affection for his Uncle Bucky, a convicted drug dealer who adopts Griffin as his own son.

A few riffs are more painful than comic, such as the bit about first meeting his father when Griffin was 16. He's also a little xenophobic and sexist, but he's an equal-opportunity offender.

He clearly adores his mother, a good sport who laughs at most of his jokes, except the sexually explicit material. "She whupped me out of the penitentiary," Griffin says. Her disciplinary methods seem to have paid off: Not only did he escape the fate of his pimp/thief/junkie uncle, but her tactics provided a wealth of material

The concert was shot at his old High School in Kansas City, Missouri, which he shows a lot of his own family.

Sides Uncle Bucky,the pimp, he has another Uncle Curtis addicted to porn.

DysFunKtional Family truly ranks amongst the best comedy concert films of all time, and Griffin should and I hope gets more parts to showcase his gift for comedy.

DysFunKtional Family is rated 'R' for strong language, sex and drug related humor.

DysFunKtional Family is 83 minutes long and opens in theatres April 4, 2003

THAT"S WHAT I WANNA HEAR! Hehe hey MG, I was listening to the radio this morning and Eddie Griffin was on it speaking to la radio host Big Boy(who you probably have heard of). Anyways he said he has watched his uncle in his porno's and is perfectly fine with it! How nasty is that?

Ok, so heres my hypothesis.... the name Eddie brings with it a certain comic talent, it originitated with Eddie Murphy, and now, he's lost these abilities and they've been passed on to Grffin.....

One time, my cousin Walter got this cat stuck in his ass. True story. He bought it at our local mall so the whole fiasco wound up on the news, it was embarrassing for my relatives and all, but the next week he did it again, different cat, same results, complete with another trip to the emergency room!
