I dont know if the title makes sence- but I am about to buy a dvd player. It will be a pal model - I was unsure if svcds come in different formats like dvds and if so are there certain dvd players that will play both pal and ntsc.

I could be talking total crap so . well there we are.

That's a perfectly good question. Yes, SVCDs do come in both PAL and NTSC types. Most modern DVD machines will play them. If you set the machine to "auto" it outputs PAL for PAL discs and NTSC for NTSC discs, and provided your TV is multi-standard that's fine. If you've got a PAL-only set, then you have to set the DVD to output PAL , and the machine does a conversion of NTSC to PAL, though it can be a little jerky on slow pans.
