This release makes CTP DVDRips look like the Mona Lisa. Man is the quality sucking on new SVCDs now or what.

Posted by MQ-James on 04-26-2003 03:46 PM:

Nice release plays better full screen than in avipreview bit pixelated (noticable on faces) nice sound prob 8/8.5/?

Posted by sickdick on 04-26-2003 04:46 PM:

got to agree
i thought i saw the worst with ctp's emperors club
but this surely wins the race to the worst svcd rip of April 2003

Posted by hadu on 04-26-2003 05:48 PM:

the sample wasn't great. sure it is 'decent' and 'watchable' (compared to all the other releases especially) however i refuse to download the whole thing b/c i have faith TCF will proper this in the next few days (watch!).

I'm very surprised they even released this seeing how the quality is not even close to a normal rip...

Posted by slapdaddy on 04-27-2003 06:13 AM:

dvdrip

All I can say is that for a dvdrip this BITES!. TCF is a great group one of the best. However, In my opinion I do not think that this could have come from the actual DVD. The reason I say this is that TCF knows how to encode to SVCD so for it to look like this means that the source was lame. Maybe it was a copy of dvd already and encoded crapy and it was all they had to work with. But there is no way that they encoded this directly form the original dvd source with it looking this way. And if it was then who ever it was did not know what they were doing. Who knows its hard to explain this one especially coming from a group such as TCF. All I have to say is I'll drop the T-BAG on this one! OUCH!

Posted by MQ-James on 04-27-2003 10:28 AM:

I used avipreview to check it while it is downloading from the ftp's so it is not the cam :P

Posted by Stunz on 04-27-2003 03:16 PM:

I didnt even know this movie had come out already. I thougth it was a funny ass movie and it looked just fine to me. I just saw it last night and I didn't really notice anything wrong......maybe its just me

Posted by UnForGiveN on 04-27-2003 04:00 PM:

If people are going by the jpeg then dont.. I watched it yesterday it at was a good release.
8/8/7

Posted by Yobanok on 04-27-2003 08:08 PM:

yo! what up wit the pixels
someone plz make a Proper
movie is funny as hell though
ill give it a 6/8/8

Posted by LS_Gold on 04-28-2003 04:13 AM:

Check the sample of Boat.Trip.2002.LIMITED.COMPLETE.DVDR-SHoCKVCD. That makes me pretty sure it ain't the dvd, but the encode that's at fault for the poor quality. The DVDR looks beautiful, especially since it's complete, but this svcd is pretty poor. This is all based off sample viewing, btw.

wtf is wrong with some of you, you are surely judging by the jpeg. I just finished watching this flick and it was perfect quality, no one thing wrong with it. And this is a funny ass movie. Good job TCF 8/8/7

Funny how you would say that, because the movie is packed in .rar files, and im pretty sure you cant watch parts of it when its not fully downloaded, and another thing.. im not sure what avipreview, (but by the name of it (avi)) its for divx/xvid, and this is mpg2.

Oh well..

Posted by Prosk8r on 04-28-2003 02:47 PM:

Not by the JPEG, Sample itself looks pretty bad too, pixellated.
But it's PAL, so it's not supposed to look as good as NTSC.

:: PAL kicks NTSC's ass hands down. -M$

Jup, i agree with you here, didnt watch the full movie, just a couple of minutes from CD1 mounted on my computer, and it looks decent enough. Seen better, seen worse, but definetly watchable and more than good enough for a release.
Its not like this is the fucking dvd image. If you want dvd quality, then get the DVDR, its as easy as that.

I say 8/9/?. Only thing remaining is watching this now, and ill rate the movie aswell.

and to Prosk8r, im not really sure what to say, but M$ put it nicely down, so ill guess ill leave it at that.

Posted by G-Unit on 04-29-2003 12:05 AM:

its very watchable, especially in an apex ad-1100w...

for some reason..throughout the movie..you can see little black dotted specks...like those black specks you would see if you were watching a movie in the theatre...(only on cd1, just a few..its not annoying..just sayin..)

other than that, the movie is very watchable...
the only part when you can actually see the pixels is at the end...and just a few scenes when the characters are focused far away..

that is all..

other than that, its a good release..no bitchy compliants..

[QUOTE:: PAL kicks NTSC's ass hands down. -M$ [/B][/QUOTE]

(1)
PAL 25fps
NTSC 23.976fps pulldown doesnt count because it's not encoded.

Less frames = better pic

(2)
720x576 DVD or 480x576 SVCD for PAL
720x480 DVD or 480x480 SVCD for NTSC

Smaller pic = better quality

(3)
Badly mastered DVDs for PAL happens a lot, even in this case (according to TCF on their quality on the sample fix)

PAL = 0-3
NTSC = Better, smaller pic with less frames on better mastered DVDs.

NTSC will be worldwide someday, they are slowly bringing the world up to par.
