Review (2003) Bruce Almighty
Personally I’ve not been a Jim Carrey fan since Dumb and Dumber, it seems to me like he’s been going down hill ever since then, but luckily this movie manages to break his streak of cheesy comedies. And after Morgan freeman’s great acting in Levity I was psyched to see what he could do in the shoes of the almighty, and again I was impressed. Jim Carrey play’s Bruce, a news reporter who just lost his job and thinks he could do a better job than God. Endowed with god’s powers Bruce starts out reminiscent of an immature forum mod that just got some power under his/her belt. Bruce begins to ab”use” his powers by getting a new set of wheels, a new rack for his girl friend Grace (Jennifer Aniston), and a job as a news anchor. But Bruce is about to realize that his action’s as god will take a devastating toll on the world, and it’s up to him to set things right again.
Being both humorous and witty, the movie should do well with families this memorial weekend, and I hope you all have a fun time at home relaxing while I am at work getting no holiday pay, damn I hate corporations.
7/10
thats good to hear, from the trailer i dont think anyone expected this to be a work of genius, but it looks like a film that should be enjoyable. i never fail to smile during the "i've got the power!" bit as he mouthes the words walking down the street.
glad to hear it doesn't suck total ass

i couldnt stop laughing when bruce was controlling that reporter's mouth. i give it an 8.
I was SHOCKED, but I took my wife to see this and it was a really good movie. Sure, it was a bit predictable and maybe slightly corny....that being said, it put a smile on my face and I enjoyed it. It's one of those movies that makes you feel better about life. Maybe it was the week I had just had, or maybe it was Catherine Bell.... at any rate it did the trick.
I'd say 8/10

Lets start off saying that I almost never laugh when I go to the movies. I'll smile, maybe even grin. But never, ever laugh out loud. I laughed extremely hard during this movie. This movie had its high points such as when he was controlling his co-workers mouth. hilarious. Also at the beginning, where the man at bakery starts picking his nose. Its just things like that. Very funny.
4/5 , Go see if you are having a bad day, not to for emtional depth.
