Pulp Fiction Question

Is Marcellus Wallace's soul in that suitcase?

He bought it at our local mall so the whole fiasco wound up on the news, it was embarrassing for my relatives and all, but the next week he did it again, different cat, same results, complete with another trip to the emergency room! So I run into him a week later in the mall and he’s buying another cat and I says to ‘em "Jesus Walt, what are you doing? You know your just gonna get this cat stuck up your ass too, why don’t you knock it off?" And he says to me "Brodie, how the hell else am I supposed to get the gerbil out?" My cousin was a weird guy....

I don't think so. That always struck me as something stoners thought up while over-analyzing everything. I doubt ole Quentin is that deep.

Although, the rumor that it contained the diamonds from Resevoir Dogs was always my favorite.

I think it's a bag of those chocolate coins you get at Xmas.

It seems the likely answer is gold, bright shine on there faces, awe in their look...

BTW: I'm a stoner :P

This is the second board I've read this on in a week.

Some daft bugger reckoned it was his soul, and the plaster on his neck was where it was extracted!

If that was the case, why does the Tim Roth say, "Is that what I think it is?" I mean, who the fuck would know what a soul looked like? Have you ever seen one?

Just one of those things you'll never know. Like who shot Nice Guy Eddie, and what was in the case in Ronin.

If it was gold in the case, it wouldnt be so light for them to throw around all the time.
I've heard lots of interesting and funny takes on this, the soul one (and Marcelluses bandage) is the coolest, but here's a few off the top of my head:
-The Elvis suit from True Romance
-A birthday cake with glowing candles for Marcellus ("Are we happy Vincent?" "Yeah we happy.")
-An Oscar statue Marcellus stole for little Mia the actress.

QT probably doesn't even know what the hell is in the case, people just love to overanalyze.

Watch Dogs in slow motion, you'll see Mr. White shoot both Joe and Eddie. Nobody fucks with Harvey.

From pulp.linuxroot.org:

"If you all are anything like me then you had no idea what was in the briefcase in Pulp Fiction. So, through a friend of a friend of a friend who had a two hour conversation with Quentin Tarantino himself, I now know, and I thought I would pass along the information because it makes the movie even 100 times better than it already is.
Remember the first time you were introduce to Marsellus Wallace. The first shot of him was of the back of his head, complete with band-aid. Then, remember the combination of the lock on the briefcase was 666. Then, remember that whenever anyone opened the briefcase, it glowed, and they were in amazement at how beautiful it was; they were speechless.

Here are actor Samuel L Jackson's thoughts on the subject:
Jules didn't know Now, bring in some Bible knowledge, and remember that when the devil takes your soul, he takes it from the back of your head. Yep, you guessed it. And what is the most beautiful thing about a person: his soul. Marsellus Wallace had sold his soul to the devil, and was trying to buy it back. The three kids in the beginning of the movie were the devil's helpers.

"My character, Jules, never looked in. Marcellus wanted it, he sent me to get it, and that's all. If he'd told me to look in and make sure something was there, I would have. Vincent [John Travolta] did that. I asked him if he was satisfied and he said yeah. [Pauses] John did ask Quentin Tarantino exactly what was supposed to be inside and Quentin said, "Whatever you want it to be."
And remember that when the kid at the end came out of the bathroom with a "hand cannon," Jules and Vincent were not harmed by the bullets. "God came down and stopped the bullets," because they were saving a soul. It was divine intervention."

Proof enough? I'm going with it. . .

Would diamonds glow gold? I have to second the soul Idea, there's enough proof for it...

Regardless, the movie's great either way

I hate Resevoir Dogs with all my heart, purely because it is a blatant rip-off of the amazing Hong Kong classic, City On Fire. Tarantino even stole the line "Let's Go To Work" from that movie.

He should be ashamed of himself. Besides that i love Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill looks awesome. But Resevoir Dogs is something i simply cannot forgive him for.
