Schwarzenegger May Be Back for T4

Arnold Schwarzenegger recently said at the U.K. premiere of T3: RISE OF THE MACHINES that he may be back for T4. "If the fans go to see this movie it means they want more Terminator, and I will be back for number four," said Arnold. The role would, of course, depend on Arnold's potential California political run.

Tamahori Faces DEATHLOK

Marvel Studios and Paramount have sealed a deal with Lee Tamahori (ALONG CAME A SPIDER) to direct the adaption of Marvel Comics' DEATHLOK. Deathlok is really, in the original story, an Army colonel who is unwillingly turned into a cyborg by Project Alpha-Mech after a life-threatening injury. Avi Arad is producing with Steven Paul.

Smoke Up With Cheech and Chong Again

Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong have signed a deal with New Line to resume their roles as the world's most famous pot smokers. "The world is ripe and ready for a new Cheech & Chong movie, especially considering they have a whole new generation of fans out there," said New Line senior VP production Kent Alterman. Said Tommy Chong, "It feels so good. When you've been together with someone as long as we were together, there's a oneness that can't be broken." No word on the story yet except that Cheech and Chong will smoke a lot of weed.

Angelina Jolie (TOMB RAIDER 2) has joined the cast of the epic ALEXANDER, for director Oliver Stone. Jolie will play Olympias, mother to the future conqueror Alexander the Great (Collin Farrell).

Dimension Enters the Gates of NEOCROPOLIS

Dimension Films has acquired the rights to the pitch NEOCROPOLIS and have hired Paul W.S. Anderson (RESIDENT EVIL) to write and produce. The film is described as a psychological ghost story set in Chicago. Jeremy Bolt is also producing.

Long Up for ALFIE Remake, THIRD WATCH

Nia Long (BIG MOMMA'S HOUSE) is in talks to star alongside Jude Law in a remake of 1966's romantic comedy ALFIE and has joined the cast of THIRD WATCH. Law will play Alfie, a playboy forced to rethink his womanizing ways. Long would play Lonette, the beautiful waitress that just dumped Alfie's best friend. Long has also closed a deal with NBC to join the cast of THIRD WATCH, reprising her former guest role as Sasha Monroe. Monroe is a cop struggling to get by. She switches to the night watch to help her 16-year old sister raise a newborn.

El Camino Picks Up GRAY MATTERS

El Camino Pictures has acquired the rights to Sue Kramer's project GRAY MATTERS, starring Sissy Spacek (IN THE BEDROOM), Alan Cumming (X-MEN 2), and Heather Graham (BOOGIE NIGHTS). James Marsden (X-MEN), Saffron Burrows, and Jane Krakowski are in negotiations to join the cast. The film will center on a Gray (Graham) and her brother (Marsden), both of which fall in love with the same woman (Burrows). Spacek will play Gray's therapist, while Cumming will play a cab driver that is also a close friend. Krakowski will play Gray's best friend. Kramer is directing.

Marsden and Banks Scale the HEIGHTS

Elizabeth Banks (SEABISCUIT) has agreed to star in and James Marsden (X-MEN) is in negotiations for HEIGHTS. Banks will play a New York photojournalist that is forced to come to terms with a complicated relationship. Marsden would play her fiance, while Glen Close is in early talks to play her mother. Chris Terrio is directing.

Church and Madsen Go SIDEWAYS

Fox Searchlight has landed Thomas Haden Church for one of two male lead roles in SIDEWAYS, while Virginia Madsen (AMERICAN DREAMS) is in talks for the female lead. Paul Giamatti will play a man that decides to take a road trip to Californian wine country with his best friend (Church) shortly before he's slated to be married. While there, the two get into trouble with wine and women and experience personal revelations. The story is based on Rex Rickett's upcoming novel. Alexander Payne is directing from a script he wrote with Jim Taylor.

Cheadle Rolls Into CRASH

Don Cheadle has agreed to star in CRASH. Paul Haggis will direct the film, which is described as a story about a group of people Los Angeles that "careen in and out of one another's lives." Stratus Film and Bull's Eye Entertainment is producing.

Transform and Roll Out

Producer Tom DeSanto talks about the upcoming film adaption of THE TRANSFORMERS.


Sci Fi Wire had the word:

Tom DeSanto—the X2 producer who is also producing a proposed live-action Transformers movie—told SCI FI Wire that the film will make use of both computer and practical effects for the signature machines and will be based primarily on the original 1980s lineup. "We're working on the storyline for Transformers, and we're hopefully going to set that up," DeSanto said in an interview at Comic-Con International over the weekend. "We're going to start going out to studios."

DeSanto also said that he and producing partner Don Murphy are close to hiring a director. "We've been talking with several now," he said. "But we have a big guy next week." He declined to comment on a report on IGN FilmForce that quoted Murphy saying that the candidates include Michael Bay, Robert Zemeckis and Joseph Kahn.

The movie will go "back to sort of the roots" of the franchise, DeSanto said. "But if there's something great that ends up from a later storyline, it's the same principle as X-Men: Don't try to follow continuity, but get to the heart and the soul of what made it work."

As for the effects, DeSanto said, "I think relying 100 percent on CGI would be a mistake. But, you know, you need CGI. ... You will believe that an 18-wheeler will transform."

Singer Done With X-MEN 3 Script

X-MEN 2 director Bryan Singer has announced that he has completed his script for X-MEN 3. Read on for a few plot details.

While details are still fuzzy, here's what we know so far:

The film will likely be centered more on Wolverine's (Hugh Jackman) story and Jean Grey's (Famke Janssen) transformation, while Storm (Halle Berry) may be completely absent or only appear in a cameo performance.

Actors already signed on for a sequel include: Jackman (Wolverine), Janssen (Jean Grey), Anna Paquin (Rogue), Aaron Stanford (Pyro), Shawn Ashmore (Iceman), James Marsden (Cyclops), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn-Stamos (Mystique), Daniel Cudmore (Collossus) and Kelly Hu, whose character Lady Deathstrike appeared to have died in the last film.

Not signed on yet: Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, who will both likely wait for a completed script before signing on.

New X-Men characters who might appear: rumors have circulated about Angel, Beast (who may be a CGI character) and Gambit (Rogue's boyfriend in the comic book series) being introduced into the film version. Bridgette Wilson is rumored to be up for Emma Frost, while Gwen Stefani of No Doubt has expressed interest in playing Dazzler and Kate Beckinsale may play Psylocke -- although since the treatment was just completed, it seems entirely too early for casting to be taking place.

Singer is not yet signed on to helm "X-Men 3," although the fact that he is writing a treatment makes it more than likely that he will be returning to the helm for the sequel. In the meantime, he and "X2" editor and composer John Ottman recently worked together on two Coke commercials, and the director says he is actively looking for a new project to helm before "X-Men 3" gets underway.

T4 will probably suck, but I said the same thing about T3 when I first heard Arnold confirmed to doing it, but, it was a lot better than I thought it would be. I hope they don't screw it up...
It will also be interesting to see how Alexander progresses, it looks good with Stone signed to direct and Farrell and Jolie and Hopkins (right?) to star.
Also: Columbia Pictures has paid about $1.75 million for "Click," a spec script by "Bruce Almighty" scribes Steve Koren and Mark O'Keefe that studio-based Original Film will produce. Revolution Studios will be a co-production partner on "Click," and preliminary discussions are under way with Columbia-based Happy Madison to develop the material for Adam Sandler to star in. "Click" is about a workaholic advertising executive who has been overlooking his family in favor of his career. One day, he comes across a universal remote that allows him to perform TiVo-like functions on his life, such as pausing events or fast-forwarding over them. When the remote begins creating its own memory and choosing what to fast-forward over, the man sees how much of his personal life has passed him by and realizes the importance of spending more time with his family.
