Who Will Play Willy Wonka?
The success of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and past collaborations with director Tim Burton make Johnny Depp the front-runner to play Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the second live-action adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic children's novel.
"Charlie" has long been considered one of Warner Bros.' most promising properties, one that the studio hopes will eventually lead to a Broadway musical.
Lets hope he gets it..

lol I heard they were previously considering Christopher Walken as the lead but if there not anymore I reckon he would make a perfect Mr Slugworth.
actually one of the trade magazines is tapping none other than freaky Marilyn Manson to play the lead of wonka. This is true, however I pray and hope Depp gets the lead. But with Tim Burtons sense of humor i would not be surprised on what he does.

manson would be an interesting and probably quite effective choice. if its depp or manson, i wont mind. altho depp is a genius, im not a fan of remakes at all, and im pissed off burton is doing his second in a row when the guy has so much talent. sigh.

Last I heard, Manson was a rumour and it was down to Walken or Michael Keaton. I was all in favour of Walken, until now.
DEPP ALL THE WAY
I'd also like to add that, with the exception of Depp, Alan Cumming as Wonka would have blown those other guys outta the water
Steve Martin!!!!!! Ok, so that was sarcasm.
I'd like to see Depp get the role, i think he would fit for the role very nicely and do a great job of it.

this would be an intresting interpretation... willy wonka should be a comic actor like jim carey or even mike myers..... (im just thinking of the scene of the original movie where they were going through that tunnel and he was freaking out) carey would do that good
good call whiskey, alan would be an excellent willy wonka.

/me hopes they tap carrot top as a younger willy wonka for maybe like a flashback scene or something in how willy got his job as the owner of willy wonka and the chocolate factory. Be it by creating the factory or it being handed down to him.
Now we are just getting plain stupid. Carrot top??/
/me sniffs glue
Best Bet would be to get Michael Keaton.
