1:1 Copy of DVD's

For a while now I was wondering if it was possible to do 1:1 copies of DVD's. If I owned a DVD Burner would it be possible for me to make the copies?

The problem is most retail dvd's have dual-layers, and the dvd-r disks only have one layer so you might have to remove the bonus stuff. But it is possible to do a 1:1 copy..

And there is no way to burn double layered DVDs..

I dont know since i dont have a dvd-r..

If the dvd is a dvd-9 instead of a dvd-5 you can still do it, you just need two disks instead of one, it becomes a real pain in the ass, what you need is vobrator, and ifoedit. Or you can make it real easy on yourself and burn it on a dvd-9, allowing all 9 gigs to fit. It is most definetely possible to make an exact copy of a dvd using a dvd-r burner.
