Box Office Numbers Weekend of August 22-24, 2003

1- Freddy vs. Jason $13,152,967 / $61,197,607 (Down a whopping 63% but still covered the cost in its 2nd week..we'll be seeing a part 2 for sure)
2- S.W.A.T. $10,581,327 / $87,847,065 (decent money so far for this movie...we'll see how far they can go with it)
3- Open Range $9,481,315 / $29,317,253 (Mystic's new favorite movie is doing decent money for a western in the summer..I loved it and we might be seeing it at oscar time)
4- Freaky Friday $9,304,643 / $74,431,693 (Is it me or did this movie come out of nowhere? I mean $74 million for a remake? nice going Jamie Lee!)
5- The Medallion $8,111,324 / opening (This movie is flat out bad..I cant believe it actually made $8 mil)
6- Pirates of the Caribbean $7,275,447 / $260,925,697 (Lets go $300 Million!!!)
7- Seabiscuit $6,170,290 / $92,936,230 (If it wasnt for Return of the King I'd be rootin for this one to get the oscar)
8- Uptown Girls $5,606,943 / $22,318,159 (2 words...Brittany Murphy!)
9- American Wedding $5,464,405 / $90,515,725 (Stifler couldnt keep this one going I see)
10- My Boss's Daughter $4,855,798 / opening (I cant believe kids pay to see shit like this)

Yeps, this movie is amazing. To take close to $30m on a near limited release distribution too is pretty fuckin phenomenal too.

Hopefully word of mouth got round about how good this movie is, hence it is doing so well.

I too would love to see this nominated for an Oscar of sorts come March 2004. It would be a crying shame if it picked up nothing. I'll definitely buy this movie on DVD. I'll have to as it is not coming out in UK cinema's as far as i know. Typical Hollywood movie shunning there.
