Question Scene suggestions?

Hi all - I read most of the forum sub-headings, and wondered if a wtf section for the scene in general wasn't overdue. Many of these 'wtf' topics are covered in individual reviews, but you have to read a LOT to start getting the gist of "hey scene! wtf with this?" because it would be in several different movie reviews. EX: wtf with ts's being svcd, which, in some ways (read:demand) was resolved by default.

And that is the question that I want to open this thread with - wtf is with making the TS svcd's 800++ (read overburn) MB? Come on guys - on a GOOD day, top prop TS - who the Phlock would wanna keep the thing forever? How bouts we save a few cubic miles in the landfills from pitched 20 cent cdr's and keep allowing the few that give a shyt to burn and re-use cd-rw's. A slight, that is sub 3% drop in bit-rate is all that is necessary to allow read-writes back and also to allow older SCSI burners to live on. Exactly 750MB *MAX* per TS CD, period, as there is no excuse that I can think of, or been forced to consider that would affect this request.

On a side note, wtf did you guys do with the Rings #3 thread. I was reading it, and it became NOT ALLOWED. WHAT the PHUCK is that supposed to be about? You killed the kings? <heheh>

b well, and I hope this will be of use. (please email me why I am not allowed to read the 'kings' thread anymore)

::Shuttup about the ROTK thread already. It never happened. -K::

I think he wants a section where the public, en masse, can tell the people that actually release things how they should be released. ie: Rewrite the "scene rules" that people are always talking about.

Then again, I could be wrong.

what in the holy hell are you going on about.....nothing in that couple of paragraphs made even the slightest resemblence to a coherrent thought, i have a small grasp of the scene rules but in no way would I think of making such an inane post but my question is .....is there a site, file, or any other information on what exactly the scene rules are i know some people are fuzzy on why this is nuked and why that is nuked so that is my question

The rules for DivX releases are faily easy to find - they're called the TDX rules if you want to search for them.

I searched this forum and found someone asking about scene rules for (S)VCD releases - he was told "you don't need to worry about them unless you are on a site or in a release group".

I don't fall into either of those categories, but would like to see the rules - just to satisfy my own curiosity.

In so many words, yes. Generally a "how does this change help?" section, and specifically, in my post "Can we go back to 750MB CDs, for a TS at least." Since the drop in bit rate would be so minimal, it would allow people to use RW CDs instead of burning CDRs and throwing them away. It would also allow people with older SCSI burners to be able to burn movies. Is it a stupid idea? apparently, but I thot I'd ask.

Sorry I was so unclear, I will now return to my self-imposed exile.

was that me? lolz, i remember asking about release standards/rules for SVCD rips at one stage. Didn't help any to ask but learnt them another way. As said DivX relese rules/standards are in an nfo generally titled TDX2003.nfo (or corresponding year) and fairly easy to find, mp3 is more group orientated standards than scene ones.

yea well i mean... if u want a forum.. so that technically the majority of leechers... can voice opinions... on a scene theyre not involved.. id say thats pointless.

sure a good comment or 2 might come up eventually.. but anything it would be abused ... plus most group sstill wouldnt see it. and the standards were made by a collection of groups .. as well as many scene changes... and as much as i hope for some changes... i dont expect any to come from a forum :|

i have is a stack of 700MB/80 minute cdr's and everything fits on them rather nicely... and i dont think the rls groups would give a shit about a leechers suggestions from a forum in the first place...
