Kill Bill : The best movie ive seen in a long time

ok today was like christmas i was privvy to a screening of kill bill volume 1 and all i can say is wow.......nah not really unlike my last two reviews which attained some criticism i'm actually gonna go into some depth with this one.

I have to say the only reservation i had going in to see this movie was Uma Thurman, ive never been a huge fan of Uma and i had some worries as to wether she could carry a whole movie like this as the main pratagonist. My reservations were quickly silenced, because Uma is awesome in this movie and one badass woman.

Firstly this is like a kung fu movie fans wet dream the fight sequences in this movie are truely jaw dropping the coreography is a spectacle to behold ive heard some mates compare this to the matrix from having seeing the trailer, but it isnt it stands on its own right and there are some truely unique moments in there. And for all you guys n gals with a bloodlust you will be happy to know this movie is pretty mean in terms of violence.

Many of you prbabaly know the plot so i'm not going to write a synopsis here i just wanna talk about the things i liked about the movie in general without giving too much away. The movie starts with like a prologue where we see what happened to Umas character then fast forwards to the present day where we're treated to the first fight scene of the movie. Then the movie moves to the back story again.

One thing i did notice about the movie was it isnt as dialogue heavy as say pulp fiction or jackie brown its much more of an out and out kung fu trip. But one thing i loved and its always the same thing with tarantino movies is the damn soundtrack i found my head nodding to the retro seventies porn style music more then once. And thats the thing for me Tarantino movies just ooze cool.

As for the characters i can say i did connect with Umas character you actually find yourself wanting her to do some major chop suey on these people for what they did to her. But by the same token she's never really in peril, she's never really the underdog you know she's gonna win there's no trickery in there to make you have a moment of doubt. I asked a guy on the way out what he thought and his response was "fucking amazing" and i think that response kinda sums it up for me too.

Mr 70's retro Tarantino is back ppl and boy does he pack a punch with this one i cant wait to see volume 2. And you'll be haappy to know that the ending to volume one is in no way as lame as the ending to matrix reloaded. Roll on volume 2

Thanks for the info tidbits. Although in your review, i don't think you should have felt as let down with the ending as you were. The thing is, Tarantino split the movie to two volumes to make it have more of a comic book feel (if rumours are correct a video game and an anime series of OAV's are in production, both of which have amazing potential) and also because it's runtime would be well over 4hrs 30mins; i don't think anyone wants to be sat in a theatre for a quarter of a day do they?

Anyway, the story is self-explanatory as you say, but The Bride can't 'Kill Bill' in the first volume, else the second volume would be unwarranted. According to Tarantino, the first movie is the storytelling and build up with some minor kickass moments. The second volume is the utter monsoon of destruction and ultra-violence; naturally where she 'kill's bill'.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, i've been hyped for this movie ever since it's conception a few years ago, but moreso in recent months as the marketing machine is making the people out there more aware of this movie. Fuck, i even have my own pair of 'The Bride' Asics Onitsuka Tiger sneakers!

I'm ultra hyped for this movie; there's a handfull of movies left this year that i want to see. The are:

1. Matrix Revolutions
   
2. Peter Pan
   
3. Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King
   
4. Wonderland
   
5. Lost In Translation
   

I can't believe some people still have no idea what I am talking about when I mention "Kill-Bill"... they go whats that? I am like are you fucking kidding me?

Too bad the time between Vol1 and 2 is so long...they should have brought out Vol2 on Christmas day..."Celebrate the new year by killing bill.."

Wouldn't work. Think about it. They need to gain revenue from the first part before releasing the second part. Else it will just be a box-office failure.

With that said though, i'm sure the movie will be a HUGE success on DVD. I have a feeling the box-office figures for this movie won't be overwhelmingly impressive purely due to the points raised above.

I so can't wait

also 2 is released in time for next years oscar while 1 is in for this years oscars it's 1 movie having double the chance.

yea, i must say, this movie is incredibly awesome.. one of the best movies i have ever seen. funny how Tarantino's films are always in my list of top movies of all time. he never seems to stop amazing me with great films... he is an incredible writer/director/producer.

yes infact Tarantino tends to have that effect on alot of ppl, he is very hard on himself and everyone involved in his projects to make sure you fell that way. working with him must be hell yet on the bright side once the project is done i bet you just want to thank him in the best way. He is a genius!

I thought Kill Bill was not at all like the rest of Tarantino's movies ... in that it was actually worth watching. It *almost* makes up for his prior transgressions. Maybe Vol 2 will seal the deal; my fingers are crossed.
