Thumbs up Various - Ministry Of Shit (2003)

Various - Ministry Of Shit (2003)

Taking a swing at the garbage pop scene, Ministry of Shit takes swipes at both Pop and the utter cuntwank corporate dance monopolizer, Ministry of Sound with this utterly original and amazing work of genius. Ministry Of Shit is in it's purest form, a compilation of tracks that have been totally destroyed, poked fun at and remixed.

Example, one track features elements of Ghetto Superstar, Killing In The Name Of, a girl singing in a karaoke bar and a choir off what sound like The God Channel on cable. All mixed and cut together to sounds of industrial acid death terror thrash techno destruction. Other highlights include Ice-Ice-Bacon which destroy's the Vanilla Ice hit. But most of all, my utter favourite is the opening 34 second intro track. The editing is a total work of genius and features Louis Armstrong singing What A Wonderful World but the editing was so precise they actually made it sound like he's singing "And I Think To Myself...I Love Feaces!"!! Also other tracks to check out include the excellent electro remix of Lose Yourself by Eminemand the total destruction of tracks by Madonna and Liberty X (where they make the female singer sound like a pervert on the phone LOL!).

Ministry Of Shit is highly recommended. It's a great original concept and works well in every single way. Fans of artists such as Speedy J, Squarepusher or Aphex Twin will lap this up. Other's will find it to be a simple passing novelty. I for one love it and think it's the most brilliant concept i've heard all year. Not only do we get great mash up tracks, but a (sort of) political/industry statement is being made at the same time.

edit: It also seems Ministry of Sound picked up on this and are suing Spasticated Records. FUCK THEM. Support Spasticated! - http://4trak.net/spasticated/archiv...248.html#000248

Pure excellence. I'll be buying this.

FINAL SCORE: 11/10

What you call a "choir off what sounded like The God Channel on cable" is actually an overlapped sound clip of the original song behind "Ghetto Superstar" called "Islands in the Stream" performed by Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton. Just thought I'd point that out. I just grabbed a copy of this album and it's very... interesting, to say the least.

Definately something worth hearing.

Awesome. Thanks for the info on that.

Yeah the album owns. It's easily (for me) Album of 2003. It's so original and head and shoulders above anything else released this year.

I can't stop listening to it. It's like it's more addictive than heroin.

hmm

Is´nt it hard for you to find records to buy? I live in Sweden and I´m having a hard time finding what I want.

Interesting find...Half the songs rock, the other half blow. I'd give it a 4/10.

Given that you live in sweden, and the amount of awesome metal bands coming out of scandinavia lately, i wouldnt think it hard at all for you to find some music
