Great quality,pic + sound v good. !st impressions were how good quality was, then i started to realise how poor the film was.i sugest you read up on imdb about film, wish i had.

Japanese Story VCD Mini Review

Ok I have skimmed both of my vcd's and here are some impressions of the movie quality and movie.

The movie is from a vhs screener and the picture is cropped to almighty HELL! This was very disappointing! The tops of their heads in some shots are cut off and the overal aspect ratio is EXTREME letterbox so if you have a small screen than 20" you won't see much of a picture I'm afraid. The vcd quality is typical VCD with the usual pixelation etc. The sound was quite good and I could hear their voices and background stuff very clearly.

I haven't seen even half of the movie but from what I have seen I'm really looking forward to seeing all of it. I like Toni Collette so perhaps I'm biased but the performances and the cinematography(which is wonderful) makes me look forward to seeing the entire movie.

I know critics are split about the movie and you can read some reviews on imdb.com. Anyone else agree? It looks like a really enjoyable movie for drama fans but I warn you about the severe cropping. If this movie is available in the future in svcd format without the severe cropping I will definately d/l it again!

Out of Sync on VCD 2???!

I have just finished watching both vcd's of Japanese story and I'm wondering if anyone else had an out of sync glitch on vcd 2. It happened 20 something minutes into vcd 2, a frame seemed to be missing, it like skipped a frame or something and than that's when the sound was a few seconds behind their mouth movements. It was annoying but since there was only 20 mins or so left of the movie it was ok. There were alot of scenes where no one was really talking so it was alright. I want to know if anyone else has had this problem because if so than I won't try to burn another copy. If no one has than I might burn another copy of vcd2 at a slower speed. Is it the vcd copy or my burner? My other movies are just fine so anyway please someone let me know asap, thank you.

I thought the movie was a thoughtful although slow moving film. If you are into action and fast moving films than stay away from this movie. This movie is an adult drama and has good performances in it especially from Toni Colette. She didn't have much of a script to work with but she did her very best. I stayed with the movie for her performance alone. The Japanese leading man's performance was unfortunately not as good as Toni's. He although somewhat animated in some parts was basically wooden overall but I think his character was *supposed* to be like this. The Cinematography was well filmed as well.

I would recommend this film to those who are into good adult drama. If you are an australian film fan than by all means see it and if you are a fan of Toni than this film is a must. I wish the film had a better script and more character development between the two main characters. I still recommend it though.

VCD#2 DOES have Glitch not just me

Nevermind, the fella that posted the Japanese story torrent DID confirm there is a glitch on vcd 2 and that he will repost the FIXED vcd#2 so look for that one.

didn't like this film..can't say more..example the screener is nice.but movie was nasty and boring.
