Not bad for a VCD screener. A little dark and colour isnt the best,
widescreen so it makes the watchable part even smaller.
Audio is indeed in sync and quite clean.
Merry Christmas OBUS!

Nice new release of this now, Nice and clear and watchable pity about the low audio or is that my setup /me wonders Its also strange how they fucked up with the screener of The Last Samurai as that is all pixelated and choppy

movie:

standalone player: Pioneer XV-HDT510 5 Disc Changer

video: fine
audio: very low/soft; and normal....at first

If you press Play once, and let the movie run ....the audio works fine

However, if you try to fast-forward or reverse, the video plays, but the audio goes completely dead

I've probably burned and played 100+ vcds on this Pioneer player, and this problem has only happened 3 times. I don't know what in the audio encoding process causes it, but it is definitely something OBUS screwed up on (don't know why i am surprised....) how about a

i have a different standalone, and i get that problem too, but only with multiplexed svcd's. with my player, it's easily fixed by pausing the movie and hitting play. Hope that helps!

Wonderful rip. I noticed the same desync issues when fast forwarding as mentioned earlier in this thread. Also the audio is a tad low but can easily be remedied with the volume control.

What can i say OBUS your my santa this year. Keep it up folks!

8/7/x

Too much on my to-be watched list to find the time to watch this near 3 hour flick.

Posted by brr8760 on 12-27-2003 04:36 AM:

All these people "watched" the rip, and NOT ONE person mentioned the loud audio spikes that happen throughout CD1??? For a while, they occur every 2 minutes, a sudden loud electronic spike. They slow down over time on CD1, maybe once every 3-4 minutes. Haven't watched CD2.

Does anybody actually watch these before posting?

Posted by tadmaz on 12-27-2003 05:49 AM:

Yea, there are a bunch of audio "chirps" throughout the whole thing, REALLY annoying.

Video: 10 (for a screener)
Audio: 6 (annoying as hell chirps)
Movie: 7

The audio chirps throughout are downright annoying and hard on the ears. 4

The video is good. 8

The movie is stupid, mostly about one ship chasing another around the ocean... big snooze fest. 2

i was starting to feel very alone here, but you are very right: none of the obus rlses play on philips (and some other) dvd players and imho they are not standard vcd compliant. You can do what i did with big fish, copy the dat file froml the cd to your hd and re-import in nero, then re-encode (nero will suggest that as it detects the stream has invalid encoding). after that bif fish played fine on my philips, alltho some sync issues ensued and some weird pink dots appeared now and then...

i cant play the file...powerdvd doesnt do anything and my phillips dvd player on my tv hangs.

i tried the burnt cd and i also mounted the image which alcohol 120% same problem...

I had the same audio spikes as some of the other posters. And the vid was blocky on my widescreen tv. As for the movie itself, being a girly I found it a bit long winded, lol.

Aud 5
Movie 4

I had the same problem so I mounted it without using the cue(mounted the bin directly) and it worked fine...also burnt it the same way and it worked also.
