thanks SVENNE for ripping out all the bloated audio tracks to give us the best quality video you could ... however, I do think the vid could have been better qual ...

8/10/9

Posted by pHo on 02-17-2004 05:22 AM:

yeah, thanks svenne for ripping out a 1.0ch Directors Commentry, which would've used up .. oh a good 80mb of 4.47gb. im sure the difference in quality is phenomenal.

can't say i expected anything less in all honesty. learn to use good tools hm?

I agree pHo, they could have kept the directors commentary, would have been fun to listen to, but however I was talking about the French 5.1 and the other DD 2.0 track which does effect the quality of the movie released ... not trying to argue, just think you misunderstood what I said

/end rant

Posted by pHo on 02-17-2004 07:28 PM:

it was more of a rant against the release, i just thought i'd continue from your post

the 2.0 eng track wont make much difference, but the french 5.1 might's well be removed. im sure someone would either do a french release, or just the fact that foreign movies should be watched subbed not dubbed anyway.

Crashes on anything other then play. Looks like they deleted the extras without authoring it.

I agree with pho. Great release, but why cut the dd 2.0 commentary track.

The 'Lessons From The School Of Rock' link works.

This DVD-R has been badly re-authored. Also, the movie skips in 2 scenes for about 5 seconds each.

Piss poor authoring and encoding. Hopefully they or someone ind will rls a fix.

Think i'm going to start a new scoring system here. I'll do:

Authoring/Picture/Audio/Movie

So:

2/9/10/8

Posted by Flussig on 02-18-2004 09:40 AM:

At what points in the movie does it skip?
have you checked the .VOB files to see if they skip.

Thanks

Posted by Mystic Slippe on 02-18-2004 05:08 PM:

I can't be bothered to go recheck, but it was around 22mins in and again around 49mins in.

Something like that.

Posted by H-Bomb on 02-18-2004 06:39 PM:

Well, there's a big difference if the VOBs are skipping or just your burnt disc is skipping. Can anyone confirm that the VOBs are actually skipping as well? AFTER that anyone can feel free to name this worst authored release ever.

::edit- i don't think you've quite grasped the concept of what re-authoring actually is. -M$

Edit 2: Dead menulinks are not the only thing that is authored, chapters may have been badly fucked up by SVENNE, or, just badly re-encoded. OR just badly burnt.

Posted by ShotGunLoboTo on 02-18-2004 07:00 PM:

i didnt notice any skipping, shoulda done a beeter job at authoring but in all i dun think its a bad release

Got the couple screw ups but other than that its watchable. But not what it could be. Suits my need. After you laugh your ass off you seem to forget about...what was it?

Posted by burriko on 02-19-2004 03:08 PM:

This release is reaally amateurish. If they have to remove the tiny DC to make enough space for the movie, why not remove the shitty trailers that everyone will just skip past too, cos i guarantee that they take more space. No one wants to watch the copyright warnings either.
They didn't even disable the buttons for the extras that they removed, so if you choose them your player just freezes.

The worst thing is that it only takes 10 mins to fix all that stuff.

Posted by H-Bomb on 02-20-2004 02:32 PM:

My disc does NOT skip.

BTW, this groups name is really funny, if you understand it. Domestic fun.

Posted by jeex on 02-24-2004 05:53 AM:

the release didnt skip on me, but it did freeze when they figured out his ruse.. and it also skipped backwards a chapter after that.. definetly bad authoring.. badly needs a fix.. i was able to disable the 'special features' buttons that werent actually there with a little friend i call menuedit.

Posted by TwinZ on 02-26-2004 11:34 AM:

Mine did not have the 2 glitches or did it skip and freeze video and audio were good but a really poor job at authoring the dvd. but it was for my g/f and she loved it and doesnt watch anything but the film so i give it 9/9/9

she really loved it and i thought it was good aswell
