Complete?!?

It would have been nice if aNBc had ripped the french audio track along with the previews, in order to bump up the bitrate of the main movie (just above 3100). But i guess you cant get everything you want :P
Can't wait to watch this!!!

agreed, when bitrate below 3500kbit we certainly don't need a bunch of crappy trailers and a dubbed audio track.

anyway, im uber suspect about the whole release. the REAL retail dvd has various making of featurettes. this dvd just has previews. HMMMM. retail? smells a lot more like rental to me.

with bitrate this low it would have been much better served to remove the dts audio, which is probably 600mb in size. i am skeptical about their being no real extras. i doubt its a rental since even rentals have all the original extras on the dvd(they just add trailers to the dvd). i do appreciate the effort to try and release a complete dvd or at least contain some extras in their rips. i wish more groups would do that. i am sick of downloading dvdr rips with all extras stripped.

:: extras should always be skipped if video quality is compromised. sometimes they're released as a bonus cd internally. as for dts, tsk. a much better use of space than a french dub even if not used that much, its just nice to have for those with good equipment. -pHo

I'm sorry aNBc... It is really nice it is a complete DVD, but the price was not worth it... Kill the DTS, french and the trailers and you got yourself a NICE release. And besides 3100kbit/sec is below the scene minimum! What are they doing?!

I got 20% of this release before pulling the plug on the download. Will wait for proper.

Kinda fun that all the rar-files are named 28.grams.dvdr-anbc.r*
Where did those 7 extra grams come from?!

Downloaded this, i found that it freezes on the rating screen, just before the movie starts, however works fine if you go to scene selections menu and begin the movie from the first scene? anyone else found this.?

Umm! That article came out after your post here. So unless you got a time machine next to your imaginary friend, there will be no apologies to you as it was just blind luck.

BTW< This is not a place to start fights; meaning you grow up. If you don't like the people or the contents of the posts don't read them and leave.

Your missing the point, pHo was so quick to second guess this release as not being a retail copy. When proof comes out that it is retail he gets mad and starts banning people. Give me a break.

:: Asshole, I told you. I BANNED YOU. -K::

Posted by porco556 on 03-06-2004 09:32 PM:

Dsquare...

It really wasn't whether Rennie was right on the matter (which was a lucky guess), it was the manner in which he did it. There is no room for people that go insult everyone (calling them "idiots") and potentially starting fights... Last time I check we are here to talk about DVD-R releases.

I also read the extras for 21 Grams off Universals webpage! Until March 4, that was the case that there were extras. On top of that, release groups are not always forthright and honest on some aspects of their release (ie: neglecting to mention bit rates, PAL/NTSC, which region, etc...), so people do get skeptical after 5-10 of these kinds of releases.

So lets NO longer talk who's an idiot and start talking about when this release will get a proper Down with DTS and French Audio on DVD-R release (at least not on drama talker movies)!! hehe

Posted by tricky on 03-06-2004 10:57 PM:

busypaln,

i had the same problem while playing the movie... i tougth it could be my dvddecrypter acting funny or something, so i decided to extract the files from the .img file and burn with nero, but nero says they arent in the rigth format, that .bups must me identical to .ifos (?) and it could be unplayable on my desktop player. i opened the ifos with ifoedit and they say that ifo's dont match vob's length....

anyone found a workaround for this?

Posted by pHo on 03-07-2004 01:04 AM:

heh just ignore that guy, just a member/cheerleader pissed off that practically everything they release is fucked up in some way or another. just cos i suggest it might be a rental due to extras he get's all upset and starts crying, trying to make up for the fact the rip is so shit i guess.

Playing the dvd from your computer why not just grab the xvid then. I havnt noticed any error when playing on my player or anyone of my friends player. As for rental comment i dont care if it was as long as teh dvdr is out so i can grab it :P. Oh and i love completes if you can get away with it i rather a complete over noncomplete video is fine on this release since it isnt a action movie theres no breakups. the source looked like its was grainy but no way to really fix that unless you start adding smoother filters which is lame anyway i bet alot of people talk ish here our from groups that got beat. cause i have yet to seee this release propered or nuked anywhere

Posted by pHo on 03-09-2004 01:02 AM:

the complete/noncomplete issue is always gonna be down to opinion. personally, if you really want the extras, buy the damn thing imo. i dont see why using valuable disc space on trailers/"making ofs" (which are usually 20min adverts which ruin the movie if you haven't seen it, and bore you if you have) so i think the only thing that needs to be kept is the commentry, seeing as its small enough anyway. if the extras are that good, release it seperately.

when you have a 90" screen, bitrate is a bit more important than on a 20" fullscreen set

My opinion on extras is they can dump the trailers and making ofs. The extras I like to see kept are deleted scenes & alternate endings. But everyone has a differnt opinion on what should and shouldnt be kept.
