-- The Last Castle *PROPER DVD SVCD* - SCREENER - ESOTERiC (http://forum.vcdq.com/showthread.php?threadid=385)

Isn't the purpose of this site to rate the sound and picture quality of VCD releases?

I bet 99% of you says yes.

Then why do I see a 6.4/10 rating on "The Last Castle *DVD SCREENER* *PROPER*" which is a DVD screener and a 6.9/10 on "The Mothman Prophecies" which is a TS.

First, to many people let their opinions about the movie affect their judging on the sound and picture quality, that is not how it should be.

Also many seems to judge the p/s quality from a DVDrip, TS or SCR perspective. My english isn't the best so let me try to explain.
Let say this release, a SVCD with far better p/s quality than any VCD scr, ts, tc, cam ever released get judged with other SVCD releases in mind. It might not be as good as LOTR for example, but sure as hell better than a TS.
I think the admins of this page have to change the rating rules or move the DVDscr releases to the SVCD section, cause when I see a 6.4 rating for a SVCD it gives the wrong impression. Cause against the other VCD releases it get atleast a 9.

good release, but i dont understand why TCF is putting their shit out as ESOTERiC, iBB, TNTVCD, FBIVCD etc.

Makes them look like a bunch of idiots, especially with these hypocritic comments in the .nfo

Overall a very nice release. But since the source is a DVD, why dont they release it as a SVCD?

The picture is clear and there is nothing wrong with the sound

9/10

maybe users of this bored <sic> should be at least <insert age here>, where <age> is that when the "where's the warez" stage is over. 'course, for some people, that is > 20, which defeats the purpose, seeing as how you need so much time on your hands. that or i need to learn how to use IRC... =)

Unfortunately shitty release. Why? For a simple reason. It is useless on standalone dvd players. (Tried two of them) why?
Standard recognizable svcd has:
ext
mpeg2
segment
svcd

and this one has:
cdi
ext
mpegav
vcd

It is simply throwing the standalone dvd player off, cause it is trying to play it as vcd. Well screw that.

Talking Easy fix!

What I did to make it work in a stand alone dvd player was take the dat file outta the MPEGAV after I had already burnt it!
didn't know it was screwed up! extracted that to the HD fired up Nero chose svcd dropped it in the svcd .. It setup the file burned it and walla!!!!!!!! it works now in standalone players.. at least my pioneer a03

Hope this helps out others! the quality is great BTW
