only problem is lucasfilm doesnt rls dvd screeners, and beleive me i know..or dont i dont care CD3 undersized but oh well 1 min over 2 hrs so gotta play by the scene rules....retail dvd maybe, but why call it a screener?...cuz like i said lucasfilm doesnt do em

Posted by Dupey on 05-14-2004 03:55 AM:

that's because twentieth century fox is distributing it, and September 21st retail boxset (Star Wars Trilogy) will be released

One could as easily call The.Lord.Of.The.Rings.The.Two.Towers.2Disc.DVDR-BooZerS a DVD screener because it was released almost 4 months before the retail DVD hit stores, the only difference here is New Line does do DVD screeners.

Well, I hope -EM does the other 2 movies, and soon.

If it infact is not a Screener then im sure you are all familiar with the term 'PRE DVD'.
In any case, i doubt they would lable it a dvd screener if it was not so. So expect a scrolling text a few times or a black and white scene or something as is the all the craze with dvd screeners. There is also an inbetween, not a dvd screener but neither a pre/retail dvd because it doesn't contain all the intended content of the retail.

w00t, now I have something to replace my laserdisc rip of like 2 years ago.....

lets hope the others are soon to follow.....

Posted by coat on 05-14-2004 05:12 AM:

Personally I would like to have dvdr rip of the laser disk.

Posted by perfect10- on 05-14-2004 05:32 AM:

but it could easily be a PDVD with a LD source... as we have seen numerous times before.
who cares anymore, though?
anyone who wants this will probably end up getting the retail.

ya 20th century fox distributes it...but lucasfilm doesnt do screeners...nothing to do with distribution Lucas ons all rights to star wars...which was a monumental fuck up by 20th century when they had no faith in it...fox owns the right of distribution..lucas can tell fx to go eat ass if they ask for screeners

Posted by zak on 05-14-2004 08:18 AM:

Is this old school star wars on a new medium, or is it the craptacular 'extended' edition from a few year back? Only cool part about the exentions was changing Jaba into Jaba in the 1st one, but they didnt even do that right.. too skinny!

I agree with Monoxide on this one.. PPl this is easily a dvdrip screener.. The Picture and Sound are spot on and the retail does come out on Sept.21st.. All 3 of them... I have every damn bootleg copy of this trilogy from VCD to LaserDisc rips encoded with 5.1 and I believe this to be the real deal. Maybe, i'm wrong but i'm not complaining and there is Full Color Throughout the whole movie and No scrolling text.. This will do me till retail or DVDR Bootleg or Not its worth downloading...Ty EM..Enjoy!!

anyone confirm it has the new footage that they are putting in?

Posted by [-BiG_W-] on 05-14-2004 10:47 AM:

If this is the real retail DVD screener it should be easy to tell - does Han shoot first? That scene was corrected for the retail DVD apparently.

Posted by YooHoo on 05-14-2004 05:07 PM:

I'm not a big fan of this movie. Empire and Return rawked, but this is a mediocre sci-fi movie at best. Anyhoo, as for this release:

6/6/1

Just not that great of a rip, but it is 4 months pre, so it's not my place to complain

Posted by gemvis on 05-14-2004 06:01 PM:

surely if there is a svcd dvd-rip then there should be a dvdr then we can tell if its from a dvd screener or retail by the menu lets hope the dvdr appears and quick .

Posted by Ravenhawk on 05-14-2004 06:20 PM:

Well for a die hard Star Wars fan this is the best I've seen!

Now I'm frothing at the mouth waiting for Empire strikes back & Return of the Jedi!
