is it really this bad?

hopefully a decent copy of this film will come out sooner or later...

Just watched the sample which seemed reasonable. Action parts looked very blocky though. Audio seemed nice. Must be shite overall though.
Comon guys, whats it gonna take for a GOOD release of this film?

The VideoCD release is spot-on, good video, excellent audio (as usual). The only drawback is the last 30 seconds are missing - you don't miss any dialogue, just music and the bit where it pans out at the end of the scene.

::Edit... Just a quick message to those of you who are being told this movie is shit. It isn't, it's just "uncomplicated" The script is pretty poor, the movie formulaic but the SFX and pace make up for it. It's "From The Makers of Independance Day" and you can tell, if you to take ID4 and substitute the word "Alien" with "Tornado" and "Mothership" with "Supercell", cut out the scenes with spaceships and replace with excerpts from Twister and you've basically got this movie!

Its actually the last 3 minutes, but you dont really miss a lot. If you want a "complete" release just grab the VideoCD version and the 2nd CD of the TUN SVCD and cut the end off. Obviously the quality change is a bit obvious but you can still see whats happening and hear whats being said. Thats what I did.

decent storyline and acting i imagine

(not seen it, but disaster movies, especially ones 'FROM THE MAKERS OF!', don't do anything for me at all except make me look at my watch)

When the tornado's ravage L.A is blemmin cool imo.Definitely one worth seeing at the theatres....preferably a THX certified one cause the sound on this puppy is killer.

What the hell are you watching? VideoCD is great but there is at least 3 minutes missing from the film. It isn't a critical miss, but the last 3 minutes does give a more solid close to the film. I suggest getting VideoCd with the ending from one of the others.

Well, errr... It "felt" like the end of the movie and looked like it was about to end. I doubt I've missed much.

***SPOILER ALERT***

Edit:: Besides, I dunno how more "solid" the close could be... We were fucked with a planet-sized dick

the videocd version will definately be my final non-dvd version of this movie. the missing footage isnt a drawback imo.

Posted by BLUE-NEO on 06-05-2004 06:13 AM:

ok first off the videocd version gets mad props for the excellent quality..but they have been cutting the ending off alot of their releases, but this one was over 3 mins and 47 seconds missing which just killed the plot. The movie just shut off with a helicopter flying off...missing alot with the father son story, what happens to everyone after the president scenes and so on...and even a special word from space.. This is a spoiler..but hey its missing ..and it completes the story and movie.

Post No where to be found!

I've not managed to find this so I suppose it must be "crap", I was hoping to pull the last 3 to 4 minutes from it and stick it on the VideoCD version. Even the end of the TUN version would have done me but no sign of that!!!

This must be 6 releases and all with something wrong!!!!!

Posted by phuzi0n on 06-05-2004 12:18 PM:

WTF I could jump in and make a better release than these guys so far. None of these releases are perfect. But as stated before, the VideoCD version is by far the best one to get now. But missing 3 minutes and 47 seconds? WTF? Why? No need for that in my opinion. Can someone just make a GREAT.REAL.PROPER.NOT.NUKED.IN.2.SECONDS release?

Posted by garvey100 on 06-05-2004 01:25 PM:

Just checked out full release. They got the full film and audio seemed good. Picture was VERY dark although not half as bad as the Harry Potter release IMO. Strange that as soon as a film is labelled a CAM (Potter), the ratings seem to creep up. Maybe Koenig should have labelled this as one!
Talking of which, ratings in here seem to be all over the place these days. Can't we just have one generic rating system for everything instead of rating cams highly, in relation to other cams? Just a thought.....

Posted by Trenton_1 on 06-05-2004 02:35 PM:

VideoCD's realease is the best, but VideoCd doesn't post their releases on vcdquality anymore for some reason. There version is missing the last 2 mins 35 secs but nothing happens and it doesn't help the story at all! Someone posted that VideoCD is starting to cut the endings but this is the first movie I have from VideoCD that the end is cut all movies end at the credits and are near perfect picture quality.

shrek 2 svcd telesync videocd 9/9/9

Lets hope VideoCD will release Harry potter 3, Cronicales of Riddick, and Spider Man 2.
