Sweet mother of god, please don't! How about a CCE encoded with good bitrate without DTS or extras? Some extras, sure... But please, stop polluting the internet with this crap. Your release came not only 1 day AFTER the retail date and it was total shit, now a "5.1" release is coming. Why bother...

All these guys need is a friend that works at Blockbuster and they can get the movies up to 2 weeks before retail. IMO, releasing something after the retail release date is pointless (in most cases)...

Listen commiewhore I can't believe how f@#$in' lame you are.

IMO porco556 has a very good point. This release is total garbage and it is absolutely a DVD Shrink rip. So please stop bashing down porco556 he's got alot of knowledge.

commiewhore what are you a ThP BI@CH?

Anyways you really want a vote?

Just finished watching this and the gray squares inside the black scenes are very noticable

I give this release;

6/5/8

Oh, I see the VCDQuality censors coming out tonight so I better get in my 2 cents quickly.

Commiewhore... Ironically just like you alias says, you are a commie. We all have our opinions and nobody should be put down for stating them. I chopped the release, which I still stand by, is shit. But don't bash people for having an opinion or tell them what they should focus on in a release.

I said what I said about the release. There is SO much to back me up on this being a shit release. So please remove your dick out of THP's ass, and get some evidence to prove me wrong on the matter before bashing me. You've made no actual comment on the quality or defended it.

The forum is not for scores BTW. There is a release voting system specifically for scores (in the release listing). This forum is here to discuss the release (as we have been doing).

I seriously can't believe I downloaded this just because of this post. Here's my honest score (putting this shit behind):

4/10/9 - Video was pretty much as excepted. But I will admit I was expecting much worse (like a un-watchable score of 1). DTS, can't complain myself, but it is a bloated track which is potentially too large for almost any DVD-R. If you have a 27" TV, you you probably notice the poor quality. Dark movies REALLY need the full bitrate.

Anyways. I am not here for fights, I'm here for the movies... So now that we each got our punches out (1 round each), let's let it go and not get kicked off the forums.

PS: The movie was actually released in limited screenings back in 1998. It was released for a fuller theater run in 2000 (as you correctly stated).

I'm surprised at how many groups use DVDSrink and try to pass it off as a top notch release. I mean common dudes, ya pay 3-4 bucks for a rental, rip it for 30-40 minutes and then upload it? I've wasted more credits on this garbage... Rarely seen on pre releases (Seen Reign,DzN,TWCiSO on maybe 3-4 releases), mostly in classic groups ya never heard of or have little experience in DVDRs. I agree with porco556 opening arguement, ya have to trust the group and nfo, if not, then your playing russian roulette.

That's real classy. Telling people to stop bashing and then bash yourself... I guess that means your all alone in your Toronto apartment jacking off to pictures of your grandma. Afterall, people that bash don't have girls and are losers, right?

It's really amazing how people can take criticism on a DVD-R release so personally and turn into dumb fucks that attack the person who wrote the opinion. IT'S AN OPINION. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THEM, DON'T READ THEM. There's tonnes of stuff I don't agree with, and I definitely don't attack everyone as a result.

Just in case. ALL my opinions/reviews are based on watching the movie on a 60" HDTV. This means small problems, become LARGE problems. And my reviews are based on that...

If you have a 27" TV or a cheap computer monitor, you'll be flying high with this release. If you got a decent HDTV, those gray squares that dance around are 1-2 inches big and really distracting. And that is an indication of poor encoding. That is what we're talking about... If you don't like it, don't read it.

Hi,

if no group has released this stuff before because they focus on new movies, I don't mind having a release shortly after retail date.

DTS ripped, DTS only, DD and DTS, DD only, DVD with extras, DVD without Extras... the only perfect copy for yourself (obviously everyone has different preferences) you'll only get if you buy the movie, wait for affordable DL DVD-Rs or rip it yourself. I got a HDTV, the quality is quite ok, I've seen worse though.

I don't see too much grey jumping around but that could depend on different black levels of our TVs. The movie generally has a decent amount of noise and I guess using a transcoding tool to rip it intensifies the pixel noise even more because it just lowers the quantization matrix.

About the Audio, everyone who got a DTS Receiver wouldn't really mind DTS only releases (other than he's selling the shit or whatever). Even though the differences are minor, you'd choose the better one, if you could... that just makes sense to me. So if properly tagged (and nfofix was released very shortly after) I think it's ok to release DTS rels.

this is one of the worst dvdr releases ive ever seen, DTS? where the hell is it, definetly not on this disc . if it was DTS whats it doing playing on my playstation , let alone my real DTS system. so many useless trailers kept,as many of the above posts point out. Only Problem is this is Not DTS/ And the main video looks almost worst than some of the VCD/ TS's lately.

as a DVDR:
3/5

There is only one audio track in this disc which is DTS. You probably attached your PS2 via optical cable to your Receiver and didn't notice it's using the DTS track.

Worse than some TS? Ok I believe there are really some grp haters in this thread, hehe....

Posted by Dupey on 06-07-2004 04:05 PM:

dont tell me what i probably did, there was no optical cable hooked up and when did playstation become a DTS decoder, i havent even played a game on it in years, so again great DTS sound coming through on a 19inch tv with just one rca / left audio jack in, lol. i even disconnected my other dvd players optical output to my harmon kardon, which is connected to my 60inch 16:9 HDTV LCD and what happened it still plays. With its great VCD/TS look and "DTS' sound.

whatever, there's only one track on this DVD and it's DTS. I don't really care what your setup you have, you can't change this fact. You prolly downloaded a TS instead and didn't notice

Posted by Dupey on 06-07-2004 06:54 PM:

thank you sir for that info, and being the second ThP member to post something, as the first was the second poster of this thread . Ive got 4-500 DVDR and never had a problem with one of them, or even said anything about them, But this is the worst ive ever seen. its gotta be #1 worst of all time like "you got served". so for you fags with 19inch black and white tv's get over it, cause this release sux. I even i played it on another smaller tv, cause i couldnt stand it on my big screen. porco556, playstationer, and JoshNya's are the only valid posts here. this release pisses me off beyond comprehension.

heh, I'm no ThP member and I have no reason to protect this group but comparing it to VCD TS is just a joke.

If you read my earlier post, I was saying that the picture isn't the real deal and that I also think they used a transcoding tool (shrink, recode, whatever). You rather see compression artefacts than the film noise. I'd be even glad if a group propers it using better encoder and better ripping techniques (for instance premovie trailers can be ripped to improve bitrate or whatever).

Still "worse than VCD TS" is highly exaggerated.

Despite of that, the only thing I said was that I don't know or care what pathetic system you got but if you can't even find out that the only audio track on this disc is a DTS track, I cannot really help you. And you can reply on this for the 50th time, it's still DTS.

I personally don't mind DTS only since I can use it and it is the less-compressed audio format.
