-- Bad Santa *UNRATED* *XviD* - DVDRIP - DEiTY (http://www.vcdhq.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=41487)
I had problems watching this. The video was very jerky, like there were frames missing. Can anyone see if this is a problem with encode or a problem on my end? dont seem to have probs with other xvid movies :\

Not everyone has a DVD burner or a fast connection, H@nsi
BizKiTRoAcH: PhAnToMs was talking to the original rippers/encoders of the film (DEiTY) - they may have used the quater-pixel method (I personally don't know this for sure) to encode. This is supposed to improve quality, but I dunno what happened.
Basically the rip has constantly choppy playback, but the picture is quite clear.
Maybe someone will proper it?

Edit - Hold up, I might have something set up incorrectly. Will try changing a few settings.
I have a quick fix stop using old codecs unistall your ffdshow filter
and update to the latest version of XviD 1.0
i use the latest codec and good old mediaplayer 6.4 had no issues with this release
hope that helps
ah thanks for the help
i thought it was a problem on their end. i'll grab svcd instead

Which version of codec/player/FFDShow are you using to play it? I'm using Koepi's XviD 1.0 for playback, and it's choppy. I will change a few things and see how it goes. Maybe it uses a little more CPU than some other video files.
edit - Hhmm, nope, it was an issue with my PC (resources being used). This rip is very good

- I wanna change my vote now. Could someone delete my last vote, please, thanks.

<Dwaggy> i caught you a delicious Bass
<The404> This is because you are an idiot
i watched this last night on a somewhat recent version of xbox media player. I noticed *some* jerky playback,,, on a few scenes,,, because it was a comedy it wasn't very noticable but if this was an action movie i'd give it a much lower score.
7/8/9
this movie has no problems in playback.....the trouble is you numbnuts dont read the nfo files to see what codec the movie was encoded with
other problems occur when u try to install new codecs over old always uninstall the older codecs
and the new xvid 1 will not work with ffshadow installed
happy viewing
It is an ok rip (original 2CD/AC3 would be better).
XviD 1.0 (and probably 1.0.1) will work fine with FFDShow installed (I use the latest build - ffdshow-20040520). You can also just use FFDShow, I tried just that and the file played well.
The small hiccup that I had earlier was due to computer performance, that's all (had too many things running :P)
definately a windows/codec problem
I'm having the same choppy problem when using windows. So far I haven't found the right combo/versions of which codecs to use. I've tried the newest xvid codec (uninstalling the older first) and I tried getting rid of ffdshow. No change so far.
Here's how I know it's a windows problem. I use a bootable live linux distro called geexbox to watch movies sometimes. This distro has no problems playing this (and indeed most) file(s). I guess I can't really be surprised that linux does better than windows
I also used xine in knoppix and it played fine there too. Damn windows!!!
I'm getting choppy play too. Got xvid 1.0 Win98 BSPlayer.
Watched some of deity's Paycheck and it played smooth so somethings different with this encode.
Videolan plays it smooth for me, though I always get hissing with that player.
Better than choppy I guess.
I'll give it 8/8/6. The trailer contained about all the funny scenes and the plot was a standard one; I thought it would be a lot more radical. Good job by the advertising peeps.
