firmware

just wondering if it's necessary to upgrade you dvdplayers firmware, would it make any big differences.?

Depends on why you're upgrading it, if your player is working fine then an old expression comes to mind... "If it aint broke, don't fix it"

I had to upgrade the firmware on my Philips 880 DVR, but that's only 'cos the original firmware was buggy and fucked and didn't recognise half the DVDR's that I shoved in it. Generally, it's not needed.

(unless of couse, it's a hacked firmware that's giving you multi-region, no macrovision etc etc)
