Quality comparison?

I was just wondering before I get this if anyone might be able to tell me if there is much diference between (CARTEL) and (MAVEN) video quality on this movie. I really don't have a need for ac3, just going for picture quality. If you can help, thanks!!

Chris

Cartel is slightly better, plus the AC3

Posted by Roger on 08-11-2004 04:17 PM:

What are we supose to think about this.

This doesn't look like a Telesync.
either look like a Dvd.
either look like a screener.

What it is ?

Mostly look like a Telecine to me

The source is from Telesync yes, but does it look like it ?

Some say its a reencode of mvn works, wich i would be suprise due to sharpness & resolution.

Well, if scene become with all that kind of work. i don't think ts.svcd will last long. xvid provide more possibility then svcd does.
And the sound, what better then AC3 5.1 audio to experience the real movie at home ?

ok dont flame me - I am going to make a comment w/o having the video. (noone else on here seems to have it)

If the video looks anything like the smaple images then this would be an amazingly crisp cam.
I want to know what screen they got that off of. Just looking at the screens around here there is no way to get that clean of an image off of them no matter what camera you use. There are plenty of grainy artifacts floating around in the movies played and those are first day runs of the films.

Digital theater? Imax? HDWMV?

Well, smaple images can be misleading so unless I were to get the video or a sample of it I won't know for myself just how well the images represent the video.

I don't see any heavy posters commenting on this one so maybe there is something to that.

ive never converted DIVx to svcd in a case where the divx is better quality than any available SVCD...soooo, would it be worth it in this case?

You can answer that for yourself.

Why do you want to?
If you are doing it to use it on a standalone that does not support divx then why not do it? Time?
If it already looks that good and it is taking up less space than the mpg would then why would you?

If you know why and how you want to do it then you should know wheather or not you will.

I didn't really see any quality difference between this one and the one released by Maven. As for the sound, it is clear and superb.

9/9/8

Posted by sportsfan99 on 08-12-2004 06:07 PM:

8\9\9 The video quality seems the same as maven's. Looks to be the same source, if they say it's not a re-encode. Those few lines of subtitles are exactly the same as Maven's. Audio is a lot better.

Posted by im_scifi on 08-13-2004 02:04 PM:

OK so the images were a little cleaner than the actual video but know I can see that it does look like it was taken from the screen. They did a damn good job of it though. Very clean foreground picture. Lots of color and not too dark even though the movie is set at night.

9/10/X - Will see this in the theater soon.

Just found the cartel spiderman 2 xvid release after your post, like you say why arent these releases listed?

Collateral...

Not watched the whole movie yet but looks sooo sweet and great reviews on movie.com too.

9/9/?

Was this taken out of a digital theater or something? I've been curious that with all the new DLP theaters opening up, and how the movies must be getting sent to those theaters in a digital format, that very clean releases must start coming out soon.

I LOVE AC3, I have a dolby digital fetish, I wish that there were more groups with the skill to get to ac3 off new releases!
