Nice to see a movie out 2 weeks in advance.
Too bad the quality isnt there on this Cam Job. GJ VCDistro for the early release. Slowly, you are earning my respect back.
Keep bringing me those Asian Silvs.

Definitions..

CAM - This type of VCD was recorded by someone in a cinema with a camcorder. The picture quality and sound varies from OK to poor.

Telesync (TS) - Also recorded in a cinema but usually with a high-end camera and a separate audio source; These are generally decent to good quality.

Sounds like a seperate audio source to me. No audience noise, and the sound is clear and understandable. I have heard worse. I have watch CD1 of this already and does not appear to be a CAM in any way. If we go by the defintions listed above. But this is my opinion.

Maybe I'm still too new here, but I've never seen a "VCDistro" release before. Welcome... back?? Sample looks very sharp== the sharpness of the picture stands out. Color is a bit weak, sound is okay. Better than fine for a pre-pre-release. THANK YOU-- I'm going to watch it and be inspired to strap on my six-shooter and hit the long, lonesome highway.

Oops. Did I say that out loud?

I heard vcdistro is some sort of edonkey p2p release group, whatever that means, anyone want to confirm that. Anyways this looks pretty good, not a big fan of the movie tho just cant see Tom Hanks in this role, for two weeks pre this is acceptable/good.

Posted by cjh404 on 07-01-2002 07:15 AM:

Yes, VCDistro used to release Centropy and other groups movies to the p2p network edonkey2000. Now they are releasing there own movies.

They released a Men in Black II about the same time as TEG-VCD. I guess it got taken off the main site for a dupe or something.

EDIT: Ps, brr8760 - Who is that in your image? :P

When MIB II was posted on VCDquality they were listed as first to release and then TEG was on top of theirs. However it appears TEG did get theirs distribute first. I remeber the day it came out and VCDistro was the only one on the page but their release was not fully distributed. Then TEG came out. Then VCDistros disappeared then reappeared then disappeared again.

I agree completely. The actual movie is better than the sample. What a great way to introduce oneself, hey? Apart from some sound pops (sound disappears for 1/2 second) during the first five minutes, some electronic video freezes on CD2, and excessive white lights toward the end, this is an EXCELLENT piece of work. Man, with CTP taking a major dump on all their fans, we sure can use a new group like this.

I hope they fill the void, however they do it. (Fascinating post below, pho).

Rep== that's my 4 year old son (now almost 6)... who really wants to see the Hey Arnold movie, VCDistro's other new release. Hope it don't suck like Scooby, MIB2, et. al.

oke. lets sort this. VCDistro send their details to us before pre (not the only group, but not all do this) so it was entered in the database and set to hidden.

on PRE we added the TEG release.

then hours later , VCDistro pre'd theirs. but as it was already set to hidden, it didn't need to be addded again, and just the flag was changed. this meant the time was kept, and it made it look like they released before Teg when they hadn't. after teg had pre'd one of the VCDistro members had even said in chan that they'd put the release back a few hours so they could work on something.

my opinion ? i dunno. i'm happy to see releases of movies from groups, but i generally don't go overboard with the props when its from an azn supplier. its very easy to get these discs, anyone could do them. the reason centropy is different is because they are one of the few groups left who do their own TS' rather than relying on someone elses supply. so i thank for the release, but theres no point criticising or giving props for something that wasn't really in their hands, like most of the releases in the last few weeks. whats the point of saying "next time try get the audio better" or "encode it a bit better" when they have absolutely no control over the cap itself.

Is this how FTF is doing it as well? Or are they capping themselves? Also, why doesn't azn just cut out the middleman and release it themselves, or do they and I'm just looking in the wrong places?

Because the asian discs are manufactured by highly organised profiteers and distributed for sale. They are interested in $$$, not kudos, therefore wouldn't see the point in distributing for anything other than profit. The reason these discs end up with us is some affil goes down to his local vcd hawker in downtown Kuala Lumpur or wherever and spends the 5 Ringgit or so for a couple of new releases.

No major complaints here.

Audio, has been covered pretty accuratly so i see no need to repeat what has already been said, a little hollow like almost all CAM/TS releases but thats a given.
Video, well colors arn't great, contrast is a little high making it a tad too bright in places, clearness is fairly good otherwise, not a bad debut release from VC-Distro.

5.5/6.5/7

Audio breaks up a few times in the begining of the movie where u miss 1 word, little boy says "winter of 19nosoundhere" thats like the only word u miss, other then that the audio is good, i dont see where its hollow but whatever and the video is decent, not the best not the worst, video is a little bright at times, and grainy, but watchable. Great movie. Good job vcdistro

Nice early release. Sound is a bit rough, but who can complain with something this early. I would like to know, though...Winter of 19???
