666 Funny.

Ya, everyone knows R1 is best for DVD. If you had unlimited bitrate PAL would be best, but that will never be the case. I plan on waiting for NTSC too.

7/10/4

how can you fools rate the video anything less than a 10? it is untouched! just because you don't like pal doesn't mean the "encoders" did a bad job.

Posted by ShorN on 08-20-2004 06:47 PM:

PAL easily kicks ass over NTSC anyways.
Untouched in my book means 10/10

Of course pal kicks ass!!!

I wish there was only one format cos at the moment my collection is mixed up between the two.

BTW i live in the uk so when i go to the shops (Cough) they are all pal.

yea pal's fine u cant say the pics bad just cos its pal lol

i got the xvid anyways and that looks good

10/10 as for the movie, i'll watch it 2morrow

When I rate '7' for video, it's because of it's format. PAL is larger pic (720x576) and more frames per second (25fps). Compared to NTSC film at 23.976fps and only 720x480. Like I said before if there was unlimited bitrate PAL would win, but on DVDs you can only have a limited about of bitrate. So a smaller pic and less fps would look alot better. Hense '7'. For those who say PAL looks better to NTSC, just look and see with your own eyes how when the picture is stretched it tends to get alittle blurry. Just like making a small jpg into a big one.

I prefere PAL on my setup when i play NTSC it seems to have less colour and gives a washed out effect. PAL seems more vibrant and better quality. Maybe its because i have a PAL setup and when i down grade it to NTSC it shows up worse... even when i turn my xbox over to ntsc to play usa game it has instant colour loss.. I dont know what effects you have when you have a NTSC setup and play PAL on it but no doubt on my system PAL rules.....

Im glad this is PAL as it will be better quality more colour

10\10\7

I didnt realise being PAL effected the audio 6\6\6?????

Posted by JoshNya on 08-22-2004 05:09 AM:

Neither should effect color. Both formats are not effected when played on a PC. But NTSC is also more universal, can be played in all regions. Where PAL format can not be played in certain regions. Majority of people online would prefer NTSC just because of its universal play.

no need to send a tribute to myself

I dont think they shoot ntsc films in hollywood in dull colors, then convert them to pal to get more vibrant colors. LoL

Posted by JustMe on 08-22-2004 12:02 PM:

There is nothing wrong with this release at all!
All you people rating it low because of being PAL shouldn't be giving it ratings IMO!
You should rate is as a PAL & not low mark it for not being an NTSC. You rate a release for what it IS, not what it isn't

10/10/7 here, good job!

Love the menu

well said justme, isnt it so typical of americans to expect everything done to there standard!
i dont mean to flame anyone but c'mon, ever heard of give an take?

cheers mick

Posted by Daytrader on 08-22-2004 03:31 PM:

we all know NTSC = "never the same color" also when playing ntsc dvd in a pal country like the UK if your tv is multistandard and dvd player all region there is no pal to ntsc trick you see ntsc dvd just as region 1 ntsc people would see on there tv

Well this article spells it 'color' too. And this pertains to analog broadcast TV. DVDs are digital.

Also states PAL has a flicker effect, and there is no perfect format.

Hollywood movies are shot in NTSC film, I like to watch them in their original format. Buy a digital/plasma TV, and/or adjust your color. Easy fix. Kinda hard to fix a flicker, hehe.

PS: Who said I was American? LOL

Posted by Daytrader on 08-23-2004 01:30 PM:

color is correct way of spelling
