Audio Problems

I have a movie in .avi format that I have downloaded. The problem with the audio is that the background music is louder than the voices so you can't hear what people are saying. This is happening on multiple movies, not just one, but there are still some other movies that I have that work fine. Can anybody help me in fixing this? Thanks.

if you're getting all the movies from the same source then it could be that they're being made by someone who doesn't know how to re-encode audio properly.

Alternatively, do they have AC3 audio? It could be that you just have to adjust the balance on the channels. What are you using to play the files?

Agreed, it sounds like an AC3 problem to me.

The movies are not all from the same source. I'm just using Real Player to play the files. I'm not sure if it is AC3 audio or not. If it is, how would you balance the channels?

well...the first thing I suggest you try is using some proper playback software. My personal favourite is VideoLAN
