video 6

audio 7

movie not watched just flicked through cd1

this is a vhs screener and picture seems blury and blocky at times

i dont understand how they manage this because i have captured from vhs plenty of times and maintained good quality infact exact same quality as the source although i do capture in mpg2 format it does get better results

anyway ime sure plenty of other people here can do better than this as well if given the source lol i guess its the release groups choice not to use mpg2

on the other hand the vhs source may be crap as well

video is fine, fullscreen. audio is crystal clear. haven't seen the movie yet, but from what i've heard it's a nice indie sci-fi thriller/drama.

judging from sample:

7/8/x

Loved this movie, saw it Wednesday. One hell of a mind-fuck. If you're not the kind of person who likes watching the same movie twice in a short amount of time I highly suggest you pay very close attention to minor details so you wont have any questions at the end.

Average VHS screener quality.

7/7/9

Pretty bad!
very blocky and starts without title or credits!
only skipped through both cd`s but not the best of screeners!
6/6/?

neat

5/8/9.5

encode is blocky. worse than you'd expect from a vcd encode, but watchable. probably looks better on a tv screen. extra cropping in some places to obscure a scroller.

this doesn't look like a full 1.85:1, but it's not fullscreen like jko`matik claims. it may have been cropped a bit when telecined.

only partway through the movie, but i like it a lot so far.

watched this last night, a little blocky from a vhs rip but about average vid and a little bit better sound, could be better. starts without credits because all the credits and title needed are at the end in full. as richardgearhead said, extra cropping to obscure a scrolly or something but decent job on it.

cool story, i'll have to watch it again to catch everything or with a decent guide to figure out all the nuances. good acting, direction and camerawork for indies, supposedly this was made for around the same as el mariachi (~U$7000). don't watch if you're expecting any special effects or action, do grab it if you don't mind listening to dialogue and like the bit more headier stuff like pi. thanks to hafvcd for this.

Question

does somebody know the cds size ?
the first should be around 440 mb, and second 350 mb.
I checked the nfo, but no rar size :\
