Ripping AC3 5-Channel...
Alright... need your help here (Sorry if this has already been posted before; searched but "ac3" was too short
)
Scanned a movie with VirtualDUB and it shows that it's a 5-Channel sound. Now, I would like to rip it (keeping it at AC3, 5CH)...
Read some how-to's on VCDHelp.com but they all seem to rip at 2CH and in WAV...
Any AC3 rippers out there to let me pick how many channels I want? Or better, an app that can convert the movie to SVCD (don't ask why) while keeping the 5ch-AC3 sound.
Using VirtualDUB and TMPGenc for now. Thanks for your time.
I'm guessing that the orginal format the movies are in is either xvid or divx? If so, use WinAVI Video Converter (I recommend version 6.0 or higher). It does avi to dvd/svcd/vcd/mpeg and can convert and keep the Direct AC3 audio. I use it almost exclusively for all my xvids I download, especially the DVD rip ones with AC3. And all of them have worked great, with my receiver actually picking the audio up as Dolby Digital EX.
I figured I'd post this fast before someone tries to flame you for not using the search feature, even though I've bitched as well about the fact that it won't except a 3 letter/numeric search string!
I did actually search, but like you've said, "ac3" is too short
Oh well, thanks... will try WinAVI
And it's an Xvid movie
2CD's - want to convert it to 3-4 SVCD's.
You can't have AC-3 on an SVCD.
i read bout winavi converting any formats into dvd/svcd/vcd in hour(s) but how is the quality wise? is it like cce quality or is it a bit low?!....cos i dont mind converting movies in hour(s)

Neither; the audio on an SVCD is MPEG-1 Layer 2 (MP2).

Oh well... doesn't matter.
Sooo, should I convert the AC3 to WAV or MP3?
I do have a DVD burner
(Sony)
well, i picked the SVCD option, went to Advanced, set it up to 16:9, NTSC, 1disc (700MB)
Converted part 1 of a movie (2cd's total)...after the conversion, it gives me 2 files... ?
1 is about 700mb (got the sound, perfect) but 2nd one has about 5min of the end of cd1 and... no sound?!
Currently doing another conversion, this time with MPEG option...
seriously, if your doing a full length movie, make 2 svcd's because 1 is just too small, the quality will blow. Also, leave the aspect ratio options on auto, i've had some problems if i choose my own.

well, with MPEG2 option, it works. gave me 1 full file for cd1 instead of 2 files with 2nd one only having 5mins of the end and soundless.
anyway, now another problem
everytime i want to burn it with Nero (super video-cd) it says that it's not "good" and it wants to re-encode it.....
