I would say this was a waste of bw. After downloading Pv's copy and watching it on the standalone i found no problems with there release. Same copy as Pv's just rencoded to nothing special here same ratings as theres.

haven't checked it out, but the previous release did have a bad a/r.

probably a waste for most people. i just hit the '16:9' button on my tv and it looked fine, and with a higher vertical resolution to boot.

too bad more players don't support anamorphic svcd.

I agree, PV's copy was flawless, seemed undersized but flawless still

A: Not Needed
V: Not Needed

Agreed unecessary proper. PV was flawless for me as well.

<-- another believer that PV's was fine. Whats up with the larger size? Anything new? I was told PV's running time is shorter than FICO's.... actually.... nm, i dont care. This was a trip of a movie... props to all the uppers...

I must be nuts of something because I don't think the last copy was "flawless" at all. On my standalone the AR was way out of whack. If you don't have the movie, get this one.

The PV release was watchable, but the AR was kinda screwy...

Thumbs down

FiCO has gained nothing with this release. as already said, pv's release was spot on. i couldnt see any difference. so,why bother with this one? beats me!!!

BAD AR... Oh I dont have that , thats the problem with everyone they are still using standalones, when they should be using a good old fashioned modded Xbox networked to their PC's ( dont like the AR hit the start button til u find one you like and u dont have burn cds no more ) ... XBMC pwnz u ALL

thats just my 420 cents

Good Proper

This proper was needed b/c Pv doesnt meet scene reg's. Like gearhead said not all standalones play anamorphic svcd. This copy is the same source but with the AR fixed. So if you use a standalone w/o anamorphic svcd you'll need this copy for it not to look like sh!t. Good movie

pv release did have bad ar, plain and simple, so a proper is warranted.

the actual issue is a problem for some people, and not for others. this is akin to a release with a bitrate of 3000k, which exceeds the svcd spec. some players can handle it, others can't, but it's wrong either way.

i saw the aspect issue immediately and just forced aspect to 1.85:1.

From sample:

8\9\? Color looks dull in the sample. Saw PV's sample included. Different ar's and encoded using different framerates. Gonna stick to fico's. Think PV encoded their svcd with ws tv in mind.

For those concerned about the ar problems just download the Limited FicoDVDR DVDSCR and voila all your problems are solved. Fantastic film by the way.

8.5/9/8

Posted by Redemption198 on 01-19-2005 02:02 AM:

The AR problems on the previous release would only be a problem for people with 4:3 TV's, would of been perfect for people with WS TV's.
I would like it if all SVCD's were encoded that way, but its not really that fair for non WS TV people.

Both releases have they're merits, but rules wise, this is the better version.

9/8/?

PV's release did have bad AR. Those who didn't see it are simply blind.
