why does this happen

over the past few years i have been editing video one thing has always left me wondering what he hell is going on here..

my usual method for rejoining 2 svcd mpg files has been to extract the mpg files to a directory using iso buster then join them together using tools in tmpg

no occasiaonaly when i rejoin the two files the movie starts to go out of sync halfway through the movie

any ideas why any one as it must have been all one file and worked fine before the release group split it

this only happens with svcd files as mpg1 files are always good

i know this problem occurs more in 3cd and above releases but 2cd releases should be fine shouldnt they

It's probably because sometimes the audio runs a tiny bit longer than the video at the end of the disc, or vice versa.

Here's a solution......leave it as 2 files....DO NOT JOIN

explain me any benefits of joining...???

You notice the split in the files still just as much.
Save yourself a headache and leave them split. You wont have sync issues.

well i have to say if you are a lazy bastard like i am, then joining the files makes good sence.i hate having to get that big heavy remote and hitting next on my dvd player. i my self have never ran into this audio out of sync because of joining two files together. this is new to me in my 7 years of encoding/muxing/demuxing....etc.


wait i do seem to remember somthing like that a while back happening. (my bad) yes i do remember. how ever i fixed it with dvdlab. just cut off a sec or 2 . something of that nature.......

In dvdlab, go under Connections, right-click, choose Draw Connections, and then draw a line from part1.mpg to part2.mpg. no joining, no out-of-sync-ness, no hitting next on the remote.
