You wish. I'm not saying no one has heard of Big L, but he got VERY little commercial exposure. Not one hip-hop fan that I know personally has ever even heard of Big L, let alone hear a song by him.

If Big L was well known, when people mention raps legends, they wouldn't be excluding him. He was one of the biggest influences in NYC rap.

agreed but growing up in NY....known him forever and a day, the freestyles with jay-z were so hot back in the day

But yea man L was crazy. Jay-Z is pretty sick in "Da Graveyard", and I've heard that 8 min freestyle, but i don't have it on my computer

Do you know 'Gentleman'? A (white) german conscious dancehall purveyor...he's not really unknown, been around since about '99 (afaik) his album 'Confidence' is huge (and excellent!). He's had collabs with everyone - barrington, anthony b, sizzla, loadsa others. Definitely worth checking out.

Big L's legacy is pretty much hiphop history 101 - nearly every hiphop head i know has 'Lifestyles...' (and I live in London).
