-- Finding Neverland *NTSC* - DVDRIP - Replica (http://forum.vcdq.com/showthread.php?threadid=56315)
Well, I've been looking forward to replacing my interlaced DVDScr of this movie. And I guess no better people to release it that Replica.
I am not thrilled with the release myself. But those of you who enjoy the extras will be happy. We got commentary, deleted scenes, and some other stuff that I will never actually watch. I DO wish it was a movie only rip, but I guess if I want it, I'll either buy it or make my own rip.
Video was disappointing. It was super soft and looked bad on my TV. But I don't think this was the fault of the encode, it was most likely like that on the retail also.
4500kbit/sec is NOT too shabby for sure for a 2.35:1 movie. Definitely enough to keep me content, and definitely it's good enough for you guys watching this on a monitor or a 27" TV. I personally would have focused exclusively making the movie best looking it can be, but hey, I am not Replica.
Video 8 / 10 - Movie like this needs a bit more bit rate IMO, especially since I don't think the original was too great to begin with. So if you're a video freak like me, you'll be happy enough. It's a drama, so you don't need superior bitrates here.
DVD-R 8 / 10 - I always considered extras to be more annoying than useful. I watched Jack-Jack Attack on the Incredibles extras disc, and before that, Fight Club deleted scenes in 2001. It's just a gimmick, but hey, some of you like them. If you like extras, this release is a 10/10. I feel the "key" extras are included.
Definitely worth it. Movie was a plesant change too. Very nice overall job (movie and release).
10/10/1
This played perfect on my machine. a two-year old Pioneer DV-430 I use mainly for testing. What I saw of this recording I couldn't fault but the story was so lame it completely did my head in after 40 mins and I had to switch off. Anyway, congrats to Replica and anyone who likes this movie should be pleased with their efforts.
