Telecine Probs

I have a problem with converting TCs to dvd. I use tmpgenc to convert. When i playback the dvd on my standalone it gets to a certain point and just stalls. I cant use the next button to skip to the next chapter. (well it does go up to the next chapter on the dvd display but the picture doesnt move only). I only have this problem with TCs. I had the problem with AOP13, Hitch and Hostage (diffrent stall points with each film)

I though it might have been a bad burn or something so i burned at lower speeds etc but still no joy. When i checked the orignal bin files and forward to the section that it stalled it played fine but when i checked the encoded mpg it stalled at the same point on PC. So im lead to believe that its an encoding problem.

I tried switching to main concept encoder but had the same problem

I did manage to get it working by encoding with dvd santa so this isnt a major problem im just wondering if anybody can suggest reasons why this would only happen with TCs??

i really dont think that it has anything to do with tc's. Have you even tried converting other things like svcds or anything?

Agreed. As far as your computer is concerned, it's an MPEG file. And that's all it knows, that's all it can know. TC/TS/DVD.. makes absolutely no difference, it's all just a video file.

yep, just like when people say they have problems with a certian release, its usually some question like "i dont know how to play <xxxxx.xxxx.xxxxx.xx>!"

agree with the other guys, it doesnt matter what kind of release your trying to convert, all your comp sees is an mpeg or an avi.

its a matter of trying different software to see which works best on your comp. I normally use tmpg or procoder, but just got hold of ong-bak xvid with ac3 audio and seperate subtitles, and they wouldnt touch it, kept throwing up errors. Then i discovered The Filmmachine, and must say im impressed. Used cce as the encoder, flew through the conversion no problem! Give it a try, can be found easy enough on videohelp... good luck fella
