True... From what I read, neither the DD5.1 or DTS are perfect. Apparently the DTS is better of the two, especially in the action scenes (info from IGN). Personally, I'm a video freak over sound.

But the video looks decent from skimming through it. Didn't get it down to my main TV, but I think it will be fine. It's a one-time-watcher anyways.

I doubt anyone will watch it more than (just to be safe) twice I know this will get rejected many times at movie nights before we actually watch it (during a drought of slow movie season at that).

Video 9/10 - Too good for this movie IMO. I love untouched video, but this will do just fine. If this was Aviator (hint hint) or any other Oscar blockbuster hit, then I'd rail the release for not keeping optimum bit rate (especially since Aviator will be lucky to even have 3000kbit/sec with movie only + 5.1DD + menu. Which just SUCKS [sneak peak at my review I hope they do a 2 disc version ]). Nice encode for the movie.

DVD-R 10/10 - Ehh, I'm going to eventually be a grumpy old man if I keep complaining 4600 bitrate is great, and I don't blame them for tossing something else in. I believe I saw deleted scenes in there too. So you can't go wrong with this. I would have personally gotten other extras instead of DTS, but I know some people really enjoy that DTS sound.

Me for one
With a 4600 bitrate, the DTS is def worth keeping in my opinion.

Im more of an Audio person than video, though im still really fussy about the video.

But on an Action film or a Horror, good sound can make or break the movie for me, on the Retail version of Ju-On The Grudge, the DTS track is much clearer, is has better speaker seperation and it make s the movie far creepier, and better, and you have similar benefit with action movies.

This looks great anyway, even with DTS and extras, which i feel should of been left out, but still a very decent bitrate.

Sound is good on both tracks, and not problems so far, but i have yet to watch the full release.

10/10/?

So long as I can hear it and see it!

I'm not as advanced as some of you - my thinking is as long as I can see it - and hear it - I'll watch it - lol.

I do agree with porco - this is not a movie to watch twice - but what the heck - beggers like me are never choosers!

Thanks Replica for the up!

I'll give it a 10/10 from sample - but the actual movie - maybe 5

I sincerely doubt that the video is 6 gigs....with the move portion of this download taking up about 3gigs out of the 4.3 available on a dvd5, that would mean the original would be twice as big, which mean the bitrate would be twice as much...which is impossible since the bitrate of this is 4800, double that would be 9600 + audio makes it out of the dvd spec....and ive never seen a dvd with even close to that as far as average bitrate is concerned.

Vid is truly fine and DTS can be the scene standard as far as im concerned, but the movie itself is just a big steaming turd. Read that book you've been meaning to instead.

And IMO anything under 100 minutes with DTS or 5.1 can be ecoded to look near perfect on a DVD5, extras pending. Its the mastering with some retails im pissed with lately. I keep buying rare (ie : expensive or Anchor Bay) stuff that looks like it was encoded from an XVID. On a few occasions I could of done better with my capture card and existing VHS copy.

I have original sitting here on my desk I should know my friend. actual size is 6,290,341,888 bytes that is just the movie vobs
full disk size is 8,242,628,608 bytes that is with extras menu etc

has english 5.1 english dts french 2.0 and spnish 2.0 movie is 96 minutes even if you take out all audio and even menu and all extras no way you gonna get even close to untouched. So I guess you need to rip more dvds if you have never seen this before cause I have a ton of times.

9 video
10 audio
movie 7

Well i gave it a 9 since the video was compressed but to tell u the truth it looks perfect. Wached it on my sony 55 inch HD wega tv and on my Toshiba HD dvd upconverter. I looked like untouched video to me.

The Audio well DTS is the best it gets and for those with surround sound systems are in for a treat

Movie
Never seen it watched it last night. I liked it wasnt the best movie i have seen but it had its moments.

Thanks Replica keep them coming

Does the dvd have full screen and wide all on 1 dvd? dont have yet movie sucks to much to buy/dl since i seen as vcd when it first came out. If the dvd has both on it that can count for higher size.
