Please help this n00bie

Hi i recently used the burn image feature from nero for the file Star.Wars.Episode.III.Revenge.of.the.Sith.TC.SVCD-TUN . The problem is that when i put the cd into my dvd player i get a 'disc error' error. I tried the same thing on alcohol but i still get a disc error. The image is fine and the disc can be viewed on my computer but not my dvd player. Can anyone please help this noob out. I don't know why i would get a disc error.

Just a shot in the dark.....but maybe your DVD player doesn't play SVCDs......

What player do you have?

Has it ever played svcds before?

More info is needed to accurately diagnose your problem.

My DVD player does the same thing, but don't worry you can fix this without buying a new DVD player. Use www.vcdgear.com the program(it's free), to convert the bin to mpeg, then use Nero to burn the mpeg as a VCD. It is very easy, I have to do it all of the time, my DVD player won't play SVCDs either.

man, that shit won't play anything. I'd be surprised if it even plays the mpegs faradyn suggests.

info for yer POS

get a cheap one.....but do the research to see what player will do everything you want first!!! (explore the site i just sent you to)

if your going to buy a new dvd player, you should consider buying one that plays vcd/svcd as well as xvid/divx ...you can get one for the same cheap price as one that does not support it..i only paid $69 for mine and it has played every disc and format that i threw at it..

Can anyone help me sove this new problem? (I'm sorry for being a noob. I just dont know these things).

I could be wrong, but i've never seen an apex that plays XviDs.......

Philips makes a pretty good one though.....model 642.......i think. Now that fucker'll play almost anything.

Dont u loose some of the QUALITY of the IMAGE when u convert it to MPEG then burn it to VCD? I thought there is a pretty big margin of quality that is lost during the process.

I paid $250 for a "High End" sony dvd player that doesn't play shit. My $59 Phillips DVP-642 Plays just about everything I can throw at it (except Xvid w/QPel) A cheap apex or phillips player is well worth the investment unless you want to spend a few hundred hours learning how to reencode videos properly. I highly recommend buying one of these players first before diving into the video editing scene. If you have the time and patience for reencoding these sites were very helpful to me. http://doom9.org/ , http://www.videohelp.com/ , http://www.afterdawn.com/.
