Still the wrong aspect ratio!!! This movie is NOT 16:9 it is 2.35:1!

Besides from that (since adjusting AR on the computer is quick) video looks a bit cleaned up, less dark, but still lacking that "something", it's also a tad bit pixely.

I still prefer the workprint ViSA version with the AR correctly adjusted, looks much better than these "telecine" re-encodes being released as dvdrips.

Audio is pretty spot on though.

Video: 7
Audio: 8
Movie: 5

this is no telecine, its the source from which the divx came.

Great job!

is the audio 5.1?

Posted by Wanderer22 on 06-09-2005 02:26 AM:

The aspect ratio is easy to explain.. it's the same anamorphic widescreen that all DVDs are encoded in. Whoever encoded this one simply forgot to change it. It will probably be Nuked as a result, but possible someone else will Proper it if they can acquire the source, or perhaps use this DVDR to create SVCD or a proper XviD.

Posted by RussTC3 on 06-09-2005 02:38 AM:

I take it this DVD is the same source as the independent XviD?

How is the audio on it?

Posted by CGMneon on 06-09-2005 05:32 AM:

apparently this is 2.0 audio.

Posted by HaLiKuS on 06-09-2005 05:47 AM:

Its the same AC3 2 channel as on the xvid. Also appears that their Avisynth script or whatnot had the wrong AR settings. With all these EPIII buggered up re-encodes (that we all have access to the source) I say just do it your self.

Its a pretty long movie, so of course its going to have some quality loss at 4gb

No. 2.0

Seems to be almost the exact same release as the XviD, same source, swapped audio channels fixed. And it's got the menus and all that jazz. I must say, though, that doing it yourself is looking up. That's what I did.

V: 7
A: 9.5

It's not like it's the retail. Three weeks after the theatrical release, you should be crapping your pants for this, not whining. It's Internal, go complain to George, tell him to put 5.1 on his company's copies.

Is this really the source or just a re-encode of the XviD with menus? I've grabbed a couple of "internal" releases like that so just wondering if this is the real source before I waste more bandwith.

Posted by Redemption1980 on 06-09-2005 09:10 AM:

This looks better than those Re-Encodes that have been floating about, its still not perfect, but thats hardly surprising.

The AR is fine on this, the pic on here is just wrong, this is a 16:9 Anamorphic DVD like every other DVD, and will play fine regardless of your TV, make sure you have Keep Aspect Ratio ticked if your playing it in something like PowerDVD.

Audio sounds better, but i havent heard the whole thing yet.

Thumbs up

this movie hardly hit the pictures when a good copy was released. i take my hat off to all the groups who take the risk for us to view in our own homes and we should be VERY gratefull for this.I'm sure George will have more to moan about than the picture being a tad pixilated at bits/wrong aspect ratio etc etc.

lets stop moaning about trivial things of these releases or if not happy.............you can always PAY to see it.

GREAT RELEASE!!!

beats a cam ...........any day!!!!

I saw this on another forum;

Hmm....also this is missing the last 5 minutes or so of the movie.

iND xvid/KKi DVDR --> 2:13:42
iND DVDR --> 2:08:30 (ends right before vader gets his famous noooo line)

Can anyone confirm that?

Posted by vtss120204 on 06-09-2005 09:43 AM:

makes me wonder if this is from the same source as the xvid version because if it is why has it got missing scenes at the end of the movie and the xvid version does not.

Posted by jrw on 06-09-2005 02:45 PM:

Er crap ..the ending IS missing on this release I just checked. Damn good quality otherwise.

Posted by justywusty on 06-09-2005 05:00 PM:

hmmmmm....the entire movie is on my copy....all the way until the credits where it just says written and directed by george lucas, and then stops.

8.5/8.5/10!!!

When you say the end, do you mean actual story, or just the credits? I see iND has a release out as well, wonder if it's missing the same footage...

Only one way to find out! Grab both and compare!
