A newsgroup made me go Whaat?

I’m not sure where to post this so I guess this is a good enough spot. Some Japanese television programs were posted to a newsgroup I frequent this week the problem being I don’t know what to do with the files in order to watch them. There not rare files, they appear to be avi files that have been split up into the traditional 14.2 MB size and I have no idea what program I need to use to put them all together again.

Here’s part of the file name that I downloaded

Pride GP 2nd.avi.010

I can play the first one in Virtual Dub but the rest of them won’t play. I don’t know if this is something that is common to Newsgroups although I’ve never seen anyone do this before. Maybe it’s something pretty normal and someone can tell me what to do in order to watch these fights. Maybe whoever posted these fights is off his rocker and someone can give me a clue on what I might be able to do to salvage these files.

Well I guess that sums it up any help will be greatly appreciated.

Old style winrar had extensions like .001 .002 .003

Now it's easier to recognise .r01 .r02 .r03

There should be a .rar volume also....

Winrar tells me there is no archives found in selected files folders.

the first file will play in virtaul dub and divfix will strip and rebuild the index allowing me to play the file in Windows Media Player. I cant get the rest of the 19 files to play.

Thanks for your reply

You might need hjsplit or a program along those lines. Have a good search in google or ask in the group.

the avi itself has been split rather than archived in multiple parts. use hjsplit or possibly even quickpar to rejoin them into the .avi you want.
