Playing a .rar file from a dvd (to see sample)?

I'm probably being a bit vague or ultra noobish, I did a search on the forum but the problem is I don't know the exact thing I'm looking for,

basically I want to sample the quality of the dvd in question before having to wait ages to get it all, though I only get .rar files from it, so what can I use to rip one .rar file and check a section of the film?

Thanks.

rename the .rar to .vob or .mpg and use PowerDVD, or one of the players the other guys rave on about: mplayer, vlc etc.

Just get VLC player than open the file using VLC player and it will work like that.

Do a search for "individual rars" and you will come up with this thread:

http://forum.vcdq.com/showthread.ph...individual+rars

That should help

not if your using vlc to play the file..just make sure that the .rar file that your trying to play is complete(or almost complete)..vlc will even play locked media files
