DVD -> DIVX made easy
The easiest way to rip a DVD from it's original form to DIVX is to use a beautiful program called DVD Decrypter (which i'm sure you have all already used) and another beautiful suite of programs called autoGK (auto gordian knot)....it's quick, it's not that dirty, and best of all you can SET IT AND FORGET IT!!!!!
ok...
Have I missed either:
a) The question
or
b) The punchline?

Threads dont need to be questions, they can also be... help
Although this looks pretty meager and borderline spam

whoa, no not spam, i just saw the thread for ripping. I know that i searched FOREVER, to find a simple way to convert VOBS to divx. For the longest time i was looking for a way to do it on a linux cluster, couldn't find one, so i looked around in windows and found autoGK, i liked it so i thought i would share.....sorry if you thought that this is spam, it is not.
so why didnt you post it in the thread, instead of making a new one

wow, welcome to 2002
okay okay, maybe i deserve to get flamed for posting this. sorry, but does anybody then care to point a n00b in the right direction as far as ripping DVD's goes? I've been using autoGK but appearantly this was a newb's mistake.
Ripping to DivX? Check the guides on www.doom9.org

From doom9's website:
Whichever codec you chose is really up to you. If simplicity is your goal, Auto Gordian Knot offers you easy DivX5 and XviD encoding. Gordian Knot is a semi-automated solution for DivX3/5, XviD and x264, and you'll find some lengthy and complex guides on DivX3 and XviD encoding as well.
if you want simplicity, autoGK. Is doom9 wrong too?
