Newb Content - Video Problems

I recently downloaded a scnr and i believe it is .avi

1Initial.D.2005.PROPER.DVDSCR.XviD-WRD.avi.bc!
its 640x272
123 kbps bit rate
110 Data rate
23fps
12bit
xVid compression
140mins

Okay here is the problem. (ill give a couple examples)
It loads up fine and everything, subtitles work and everything BUT when it starts playing, some of the frames stay and get mixed up with the upcoming frames and it becomes blurry. For example if you had a Figure "A" on the screen and the next frame was a figure "B" The rendered image would be an "B" on top of an "A" so it would have both B and A showing at the same time. Because of that i cant view the movie without the movie scenery constantly changing... What is this Problem called and how may i solve this. I have tried downloading codecs, Xvid, Mak, Divx, Nimo pack, AC3 and nimo packages... its a real pain in the ass... ive tried about 4 different media players suggested by encoder/decoder forums.

Should i redownload the files
convert it into another video/audio format
find more encoders/codecs
new players
or its just how it is

What i would like to do is to somehow have a repair program or something... Thanks

Uninstall every codec pack you've inflicted on that poor PC (I feel sorry for it!) then install FFDShow... It's not the ideal solution but short of reinstalling that PC it's probably your only option

The description sounds like corruption in the file itself, rather than a codec problem.

Load it into VirtualDub and see if the same problem occurs. If so, then it's most likely screwed; you will need to redownload the corrupted parts.

No, I've seen the effect he's describing before... When a scene changes it effectively "morphs" into the next one - so you can end up with a persons face bursting out of a brick wall n other weird shit... It looks great for 30 seconds (in an Acid-trip kinda way) but you quickly tire of it
