waste of a release..and here is why

1. check amazon.com folks

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...&s=dvd&n=507846

and

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...&s=dvd&n=507846

notice french tracks, eng, span, fr subs

2. since all the real retail come on 2 disc, this was obviously modified and merged to one. 3150 bitrate ? i mean come on...garbage. 2 full dvds untouched just like the retail is or 1 downsampled to crap rls.

3. after all the fake rlses out there, one real one comes out that is working and this comes out as a pathetic attempt to make a release...sad

video = 6

audio = 7 ....you took out the director's commentary, probably the only good thing on this film, its on the other rls..

movie = 4/5 its ok...not really what most wanted but entertaining.

as for the release itself, a waste to download.

XPDVD DOESNT have a French Audio option so it must be the Alexander - Director's Cut (2-Disc Widescreen Special Edition) (2004) w/o the bonus disc.

ThP DOES have the French option Alexander (2-Disc Widescreen Special Edition) (2004) . So the ThP lied and said it was the DC version, when it wasnt.

And, if you look in the COMPARE directory of the XPDVD rls, you will see the scene selection screenshots, so this ISNT a homebrew DVD like you say. Its clear which to get, just from your amazon.com posts.

Hmm... Why is the Director's Cut actually 8 min shorter than the regular cut (according the the Amazon links above). Does anyone actually know what the improvements in the Director's Cut actually are (added scenes, subtracted scenes)?

Posted by vdown on 07-28-2005 09:58 PM:

Stone decided to recut it. He removed 18 mins and added in 9.

The first half is sped up and the scene with Farrell and Leto which suggest they were lovers has been truncated.

There is an interview with Stone in todays' Times (if you are in the UK) that explains it.

commiewhore, i thought you would of been around long enough to know that those 2Disc DVD's are not for the movie.

The film is on DVD1 and the extras are on the second disc, why would a 167min movie need more than 1 DVD9, even with a few other audio tracks, only the LOTR films have needed it and they had DTS and a shitload of Commentarys and were alot longer than this.

From comparing this full release to the sample of the other, the other does look a tad better, but theres not a massive difference, and all round this is the better release.

Video - 8, a tad grainy at times, but generally good considering the bitrate.

Audio - 9 a nice 5.1 track, but i would of like the Commentary too.

Movie - ? not got round to watching it all yet

I wonder if this is the same commie whore I know :P

anyways, I don't think I want to watch this one.

Posted by TwinZ on 07-30-2005 01:22 AM:

i read somewhere that the directors cut is a little shorter to make it a better film after it flopped at the box office.

Posted by Beelzebud on 07-30-2005 02:10 AM:

They took out the spanish language track. Why not rip the spanish menu as well, and leave space for the Director's Commentary?

For that I gave the audio a 5.

Video was fine. Gave it a 9.

Movie is great. Gave it an 8.

Umm there were only 2 tracks, English and DC.. no Spanish on any of the Alexander DVDs, best wait for the South America version, hehe.

Posted by X400 on 07-31-2005 01:57 AM:

why would he cut scenes out... specially the one that suggests they're lovers

kinda makes you want a directors cut 2 with nothing cut + the added footage :/ cuz i never saw the theatrical ver and now it makes me curious

Posted by omega59 on 07-31-2005 06:33 PM:
