I'm wondering, do release groups manually crop or use an automated crop (like the one in GKnot), then use Smart Crop All?

I've got the original retail PAL DVD and to get to 640 x 352 (which KEG's rip is) you need to manually crop (Pixel) then use Smart Crop All to get AR error down and keep most of the picture.

But yeah, compressibility for this movie is around 65-75% @ 1CD, so it should be pretty good quality. 128 Kbps MP3 not so good on the audio side though.

video - 8
audio - 7
movie - 6

It's Hide & Seek all over again

Just a side note - the original DVD is noisy, there are quite apparent artifacts (not just your typical ringing, but blockiness). Gotta like ol' MPEG-2

retail pal dvd? how is it retail? does it got menues, extras and stuff?

this release... meh its alright. movie was so freakin boring. I'm so sick of these lame pg-13 horror movies. Bring on the gore u pussys!!!

vid - 8
audio - 9 (dont care about mp3 vs ac3 blah blah blah)
movie - 5....fuck off

Not a bad release at all, very decent video and no major problems i could spot.

Audio is a bit piss though, but listenable enough i suppose, but horror has to have 5.1, its so much scarrier.

Movie was ok, horror is a bit shit these days though, but its nothing to do with PG-13 ratings, its just a lack of originallity, gore is for the kiddies.

8/7/6

The retail DVD (the one you buy in the shop) was out in Europe and Australasia on the 2nd of August. KEG states this in their NFO btw.

I just watched the DVD. The extras etc are pretty much non-existent.

Unhappy

Good film but i use mpeg4 modifier for the packed bitstream and there are still moments in the film (beginning) that he blocks! Anybody the same prob? Greetz!

Unrated version is out, so ALLiANCE gets a lot of respect for doing that

Garciake: I'm afraid the blocks is a consequence of using a low bitrate. Also, the PAL DVD of this movie is pretty poorly done (it's grainy and has ringing a lot), so it's pretty noisy to begin with. Making it not the most conducive to compressing.

Also, what do you mean you used MPEG4 Modifier? Why did you need to use that?

Anyway I'm grabbing the 2CD Unrated version by ALLiANCE Now, if I can only find DEiTY's 2CD version of the The Ring (first one)
