encoding making longer mpeg?

hey guys,


well here is my problem...trying to get the shield season 4 onto DVD's and when I encode the files using TMPGenc Source Creator the file goes from being 50mins to 2 hours and 28 minutes...would someone explain why this is happening? how many shows can I get per DVD-r? if I can get this problem fixed.

is your sour an xvid/avi/svcd whatever ??

if so if your using tmpg dvd source creator and the file using vbr mp3. i think that may explain it what is happening...


this this free app called g spot.if i'm going to use the tmpg dvd source creator. i always open a file with g spot and it will me if the audio on a file is mp3 vbr or cbr.

mp3 cbr doesn't seem to be a problem for tmpg dvd source creator...bur mp3 vbr. *oh no*

in addition to tmpg dvd source creator listing a very inflated file size if you go ahead and do the encoding the sound my be very out of sync...


anyway if the file is mp3 vbr. your choice are convert the audio to wave or mp3 cbr. or if you have something like acm ac3 decompressor(or whatever it's called) or tmpg's own ac plug in(i've never used their plug in) you could also convert the audio to ac 3 .and it should be fine.....

with TMPG you should have an option to clip the source file... i.e., choose the first and last frame that you want to encode. Sometimes TMPG does this weird thing where it will encode the original video and then give you blank screen, likely because of the VBR thing. Do the video only (ES) with TMPG and do the audio with some other program and you should be good.

the codec is xvid and the audio gspot is saying is MP3

it really depends on alot of factors on how many you can fit on a dvd. I would personally use something different than tmpeg, if you are gonna reencode a whole season, it will take some time. Use winavi, fast and batch friendly.
