Encoding problems!!

Yes I converted my .vob file over to .mpeg2 so i could burn onto a cdr cause I dont have a dvd burner and when it burned the cd it would not reconize it as a video cd is there any suggestions on how to convert and get a succesful burn I'm using winavi and I have winxp, amd processor and running 512 megs of ram plus using alcohol and nero to burn either straight data or burn images.

thank you very much in advance.

you said you converted your vob to mpeg2?

mpeg2 are svcd files.480*480 ntsc
mpeg1 are vcds files. 352*240 ntsc

you can also create dvd compliant mpeg2 files....

but seeing as your trying to burn to cdr, i take it its an svcd. If your standalone doesnt support the playing of raw files, you cant simply burn the mpeg2 to a disck and expect it to work....

you have nero, so you shouldnt be burning it at a data disc, you need to burn it as an svcd, which is in the options. This will create the neccessary svcd file structure and you will be able to play them in your standalone.
