Looks really nice to me, and an unexpected surprise too, just wish i never go the DVD Screener now, but ah well.

Video is spot on and its a great idea that Replica had to keep the main movie untouced.

Audio is spot on too, nice 5.1 track.

Also nice to see a group remove all the tack and crap on a DVD too, nearly always have to do it myself rather than just burn the .img.

9/9/?

I know I'm supposed to be rating the release, but I just want to throw my .02 in: Personally I'd rather that the movie was re-encoded and the director's commentary included. No embellishment, just an opinion.

I'm with you NJDevil. I would have rather have seen a re-encoded movie with the Director's Commentary.

George Romero is awesome, and I love his commentary tracks. I guess I'll be buying this one afterall.

9/9/8

Nice release but paused for split second after open credits on my player.

Pic 9
Sound 9
Flik 8 Better than expected.

the pause in this release is the layer break and apparently there are 3 of them in it. just remove with ifoedit or pgcedit it is easy

Posted by TerminatR on 10-02-2005 07:56 PM:

will a patch be released to fix this layer break issue? or is it even noticable - should I even care?

I quess you need a new dvd player as the original would do the same. So isnt Replicas fault its your dvd manufacturer for making a cheap machine. If you having this problem most dvd9 originals will do the same.

this has been a problem on a few players not just cheap ones, as i said before when they reencoded the first cell somehow there is a layerbreak there. if you take out the layer breaks it will be a flowing release. i got told there was 3 or 4 layer breaks in this one, gf burnt it tho before i could sort it

Posted by omega59 on 10-03-2005 04:25 PM:

ok so how does one fix this issue now that it is identified?

i haven't watched it yet so not sure if my player has problems.. i'm sure it will play fine for me tho cus my player is pretty awsome!

thx for the heads up tho on this issue.

im at work at the minute and i am not 100% sure but if you open up the movies main ifo in ifoedit and scroll down the chapter points you will see the word layer break, double click on this and then change the 2 to a 8. apologies if this isnt correct, i will sort it out when i get home from work in a couple of hours if it is incorrect.

I was simply commenting on this release. I watched the release on my Panasonic 'not so cheap' DD/DTS surround system which plays anything you stick in it usually without any problem. It was just noticeable - thats why I commented about it on the forum.

Twinz

thanks.. i will wait for your response

right get pgcedit as it is easier, you will need to mount and rip or extract with isobuster first to get your video_ts folder. open pgc edit and select the video_ts folder and then pgcedit will scan it. let it run through then after it is finished find the pgc with the longest run time (which is the movie) then double click it. you will see subtitle colours on the bottom left of the new box which comes up (you can change sub colours here if you like, i prefer yellow with black outline) then to the right of that you will see chapter points etc. there should be a colomn for layer breaks with check boxes. you can uncheck the first as you need that to stay as it is (i forget why though) then go through and uncheck the other boxes that are checked (should be 4) then press ok and go to file and save dvd. you can either create another image with imgtool classic or burn with imgtool burn.

Video - 9/10 - not All untouched but looks great
Audio - 9/10 - sounds great
Movie - 4/10 - not very good at all, for 2 hours you just watch people get ate and slaughtered. Has the same plot as Dawn of the Dead, but that movie actually was entertaining. I shouldn't of wasted my time.

Good release Replica. Good idea to save the untouched video I'm not a big fan of re-encoded films if it can be prevented, extras aren't a big issue for me. Menu is edited for Special Features button you can't choose, a good thing. Overall good release, bad movie.
