Hi all

Here's my "take" on this one.......

Just finished D/L this baby and from my (limited) experience it
looks like this is from the same source as the Prevail one on the AR looks better and the film appears to be "in sync" all the way
to the end

Thanks HLS !

Gazza

^ idiots
do you people read the nfo ?????

this is the SAME source as PREVAiLs release ... they even stated in the NFO that they use their source with permission .. now ... they fixed the AR and the out-of-sync issues .. good

V-9 (that blur doesnt bother me a bit)
A-9 (pretty decent)
M-9 (pretty good movie)

is there any black and white, or scolling text in the movie?

Posted by nwoidaho on 10-12-2005 06:06 AM:

Movie file keeps coming up with problems and broken timecode thru-out...Watchable on the computer but unable to encode to a DVD freindly format...

Video 9.5
Audio 8.0...Loud at times then soft...
Movie...Didn't watch

Thanks for the effort...

V=4
A=9
M=7

Video quality on the bits you can see is great but that HUGE ass serial blur in middle left of the screen is a complete mess. the screenshots on VCDQ dont show just how bad it is on the moving image.

Avoid unless you are a tight a$$ and wont pay the £5 to go and see it in the flix.

ok instead of flaming you let me explain something to you. you rate the release for what it is. the fact is this is a screener.
you are whinging like u can barely see any of the movie, when in actual fact you barely notice the blurred out part once your eyes get used to it. it is a common thing with dvd screeners to have watermarks, black&white transitions and in this case some information was blurred out to protect the source. like the nfo says, if you don't like it then wait for retail.
as a screener,
video 9 (apart from the obvious blurred out section)
audio 9 (everything sounded perfect and in sync)
movie 9 (i would rarely rate any movie over 8, but this movie was so awesome. not a movie for kids, not just because the viloence is so brutal but because kids will not understand the ending and meaning of this film)

v9 - only reason it's not a 10 is cause of the blur.

a10 - if it's a dvd screener, then the audio is perfect.(simple as that)

m8 - a few holes in the story(but thats cronenberg for ya),still it kept my interest the entire time.

Excellent work HLS.

existenz is another really good movie by Cronenberg.

I haven't seen this one yet though. There have been so many contentions surrounding its quality, I think I will just wait.

This is GREAT.
No question. too many complaints I feel for what is THE BEST version of this source that has been made by HLS.

I tried the other releaseds by Prevail and couldn't stand the AR and audio sync errors so got this one.
Perefect!
they really know what they are doing. They fixed the syncing issues and of course the AR is fine now.
On top of that a highly enjoyable and riveting movie.

Video: 10 (worked wonders on the source)
audio: 10 (obviously from DVD)
Movie: 8 (no movie gets a 10! but it is the best I've seen for a while)

NOTE: If you are worried about the blurred out section on the left-middle of the screen that you've no doubt read about....
...DON'T!
I wasn't too happy when I saw it and(as usual if there is ANYTHING like that onscreen) my lady was saying she couldn't watch it)..Anyway within five minutes I swear to you, just FIVE minutes and that blurred out serial number is so far from your mind, and your line of vision, that it means nothing.
The movie is what you are watching and the blur is small and very unimportant.
Get this one out of all of the fucked up and messed up releases of this source.
HLS have sorted this movie out for me.

The blur on the screen just doesn't bother because the movie is great. It's Cronnenberg at his best, doing what he does best. Despite it's an action movie, you find everything you've seen in his other movies: blood, raw violence and a very well told story. It's worth it the dl, no doubt about it.

9/10/9

impressive for a one cd/mp3 thing. yeah there's the blur but i think don't anything better is coming are way soon....

good gig hls. i'm glad your continuing to bring us non hollywood blockbuster stuff!!!

Posted by Terminator800 on 11-13-2005 11:06 PM:

This one is out of sync as well. I'm only 6 and a half minutes into the movie and when they're talking at the bed, it's clearly out of sync.

The video starts with a chair outside. This isn't even the begining.

Video - 8 - Good quality, nothing wrong.

Audio - 3 - Still out of sync

Proper of a proper is in order.
