Hehe... I noticed that too. But in all honesty, most of the R3s I got I kept because they either look really good (ie: same transfer as the R1), or that the R1 was screwed up/interlaced or too many extras. I'm gonna at least check it out.

Maybe the 5760 kbps is the average of the original DVD video? However, at 5760 the DVD would have to be 5.184gigs for the video alone + another 432 megs for the audio + menu. So I seriously doubt that is a valid bitrate (encode or original).

But Stealth is a bottom feeder grade movie, so even if this looks like VHS I'd watch and erase it But most likely (since it was a summer blockbuster, it believe will be a good transfer).

OK... So I got this release and it answered what's going on. This release has 2 DD5.1 streams. It's got the Mandarin (or some asian language) track and of course the English track. Menu fully English, hint of misc languages in the warnings.

Transfer looks pretty good and I doubt this was re-encoded actually.

The MPT version is exclusively DTS and would now make sense that is it smaller. 448kbit/sec x 2 is less that 768kbit/sec that a DTS track is. Of course I am assuming that they cut the 5.1 tracks to do this.

So it all comes down to if you want DTS only (and your friends without DTS will cry), or the safe 5.1.

I'm getting the MPT version now to check that I'm right, but it's the only thing that makes sense.

This was a great release, the video is really good so I'm inclined to believe that it's untouched, no problems with the audio, and the movie is a lot better than what I expected.

The only complaint with the disc is that they didn't disable the special features or the previews buttons on the menu (would have been nice) other than that no complaints, not really sure what more the R1 could offer...

The second 5.1 track is Thai (I am told). Would much rather have had DTS myself but that's not available on Bittorrent just yet. One set of oriental subs has been replaced by Slovenian on my copy. Can't fault the transfer in any way. What I don't get is if this is a Region-3 release, what's with all the FBI warnings? Looks more like Region-1 to me.

As a rule I detest this sort of hackneyed, cliche-ridden, daring-do adventure yarn but by the end I found myself loving this one. Make no mistake, the plane is the star here not the actors.
