encoding software is the equivalent of The 404 going on a diet and walking thru the door. takes longer and sometimes more skill, but ultimately worth it.

Another incredible rip by DoNE. Really handled itself in those dmanding scenes, couldnt ask for better. Nice work!

V = 10

audio- 9 loud and clear

overall excellent release

It doesn't strike me as a good rip. The colours look washed out. Initial impression was that it looked like a PDVD rip. Hhmm.

meh
7/8/5- average movie...

to be honest i thought the same... cant quite understand why everyone thinks the quality is so brilliant? perhaps done should have dropped the resolution a bit? the colours look a little dull, the picture looks a bit messy... it looks more like a dvdscr than anything... half-way expect a retail proper to come out next month.

This is the worst dvdrip i've ever seen. People must be looking at the wrong thing to say this release looks great. I'd give it a 7/10/8

Posted by chiv on 10-30-2005 12:13 AM:

yeah... and the silly thing is, if people are just rating from seeing the jpg samples, the jpgs really show off how bad the video in the film looks - i cancelled my dl, ill wait for the retail dvd to come out, rent it, and do it myself, i know i can do a better job than done did (hows that for bad engrish...) in this case

Finally got around to watching most of this on standard def TV. Looks pretty good.. up to a typical DVD rip's quality. Colours are not that washed out, and are actually rich and picture is sharp enough. Maybe H263 quant. type would've been better to use for this particular encoding.

Posted by immun3 on 11-07-2005 12:55 AM:

Good try DoNE but not perfect im afraid.

Video - Overall is very nice but has a few flaws........the colours are indeed washed out and there is a definate degree of pixellation in some of the fast moving scenes. But this is still a good attempt just not the best rip.

Audio - Fine no problems at all, all in sync.

Movie - Really got into this one, acting was top notch (maybe a little too emotional, yes im looking at you Dakota). Very nice special effects and the aliens themselves were done well...............ending is perhaps a little weak and ending explanation seemed tagged on. Worth seeing for the effects above anything else.

7.5/10/7
