Not sure why this is "proper"? Was there another R1 before this release?
Either way, this one is the R1.
It boils down to this. The video in this and the R3 from MPT do look similar. MPT is untouched and that is always a winning factor for me personally. I didn't break it down too much here in the comparison. Not really a BIG name movie to start spending too much time on.
IF you like extras, get the ThP, this has them all with a healthy bitrate.
You're in good shape with MPT or ThP IMO.
for a short movie like this one I was kind of upset that they did not include any extras in the R3 release!
so thanks ThP

First of all, this shouldnt be labeled as a proper but personally I dont care about that. More importantly, there is something wrong with the structure of the dvd files or something because it wont open in dvd shrink or dvd remake pro. I wanted to remove the unused buttons the group lazily left in but dvd remake could only read about 2 gig of the dvd. Ive also read several complaints that people cant get it to work in their standalones but I havent burned it yet personally. I guess I'll wait for a proper of this false proper or a fix before I burn it.
First, the img is oversized.
4.37 GB (4,701,523,968 bytes)
Second The Chapters are wacked
Third all the extras are untouched leaving the movie vob set 2.94 GB.
Oh yeah, like the middle of the movie around 46 minutes is hosed, doesnt play, locks up, call it what you will.

Okay I got this fixed and it was rather simple. The problem with the dvd is in the VTS_07_0.VOB. All you need to do is open ifoedit and open VTS_07_0.IFO. Then hit the VOB Extras button. Make sure "Strip Streams", "Correct Vob Unit (Navigation Pack)", and "Correct Original IFO files" are all checked. Choose a destination directory and hit okay. When its done go to your destination directory and copy all the files there. Paste them in your VIDEO_TS folder for the movie replacing the original files. Then open ifoedit again, and open VIDEO_TS.IFO. Hit the "Get VTS Sectors" button and it will correct all your ifo's. Then I ran it through dvdshrink but that may not be necessary. Movie should work fine now.
Thanks for that chaotic646. I'm also removing the warning/logos and trailers. I lose an extra DVD-R but the movie is pretty good so I'm willing to put in some work and extra DVD-R.

Well nevermind. That made it work fine for me in powerdvd where it wouldnt before, but it still doesnt work in either one of my standalones or my PS2. Sorry guys, I tried.
Oh that sucks. I haven't burned it yet so I didn't waste 2 DVD-r's. Hopefully a repack or PPF patch will come out soon.
edit: even better!

Don't download this. An idiot did this job. In Zoom Player I cannot access the menu, fastforward/rewind, skip chapters, or anything.
It's just completely botched. And to think they had the nerve to call this "proper"
Here's a tip - test it next time.
This release is really FUBAR. Just really bad authoring I guess on THP's part.
chaotic646 - tried your fix, and although I was able to load it into DVD shrink I ended up with the first 6 minutes of the movie playing before the menu, then it jumped into the menu... I was going to just dump out the first 6 minutes, plus the rest of the movie to make a disc in shrink with no menu, but I ended up with an unreference VTS07 so I couldn't pull that into a custom disc...
Anyways so then I tried burning the original image as is, it won't burn on a DVD+RW because it's oversized (I guess on the RW there must be some extra overhead that consumes some disc space)
So then I tried burning it on a DVD-R and that worked fine, popped it into my old Pioneer DV333 stand alone, and although the time, and chapter points are all messed up, I was able to play it straight through until a few minutes before the end, at which point the DVD player locked up, but once I hit fast forward to skip that bad piece it played right through to the end...
Movie was pretty good... so off to get the MPT release I guess...
